Quick tip if you are in high school: be ready whenever a big bully guy comes to you. Specially if they are two.
The last thing I remember before being cared to the infirmary by Annabeth... Annabeth... she was the one who saved me. If it wasn't for her the next person noticing me would be a little too late I would be lying on the ground like some creepy crazy teenager.
And then there was that thing in the canteen. I just couldn't stand it. A stupid dam guy just touched her butt. And I just couldn't stand it. Don't ask me why because frankly I don't know.
Anyway... I woke up and noticed that I was in the infirmary. My vision was a bit muddy but I could still knew who was looking straight at me. Annabeth Chase. She had her hair a bit wet and was a bit more pale then she was this morning. But she was staring at me. Like if I had something odd in my face. I was about to ask her something when she decided that she was the one who was gonna talk first.
- You drool in your sleep. - she said. I got a bit confused.
- Wh-what?
- You. Drool. In. Your. Sleep. Like water coming out of your mouth and going to the pillow. - she sat on the bed next to mine. - Are you better now?
- Yes. I think I am. - I sat down in the bed with my back on the wall. My shoulder hurted and my eye too. She looked at me. Then she grabbed and ice bag and gave it to me.
- It will make you feel better for now.
- Thanks - I said. - So... umm... Thank you for helping when I was almost about to faint in the hallways.
- You're welcome.
And then an awkward silence crushed the moment. And of course I was the one breaking it.
- So... ummm... What did they do to you?
- They took me to the bathroom on the third floor and pulled my head to the toilet. But I took care of myself. - then the akward silence came again. And the same person broke it.
- Aren't you gonna ask what they did to me? - I said a bit afraid of her answer. Somehow that girl managed to make me feel defenceless sometimes.
- I don't think I need to.
- Why?
- Because after not being able to leave until the bell rings makes you start to look around and just by looking at you once I can say the they hit you in your right eye, which by the way looks better then it was before, in the right shoulder and as usual in they hit you in your tummy and in your mouth. Am I not right?
I was surprised. That girl had just figured out what those guys did to me and I didn't even mention the fight. She was clever. Perhaps too clever for her own good.
- Yes you're right... - I grumbled. Then I looked at her with a smirk. - You know you're a bit a know it all, right?
- And you better get used to it, Seaweed Brain.
Did she just got a nickname for me?
- Wait, why Seaweed Brain?
- You're the captain of the swimming team, so you must like to swim. If you like to swim you like the beach. And the beach has the sea. And what is there in the sea? Seaweed. And you seem to not see the obvious, so it's like you're brain is full of kelp. In other words, you're a Seaweed Brain.
- Fair enough... - I thought for a little time for a nickname to her. - ... Wise Girl. - the smirk was back on my face.
- Was that meant to offense me? - she looked a bit shocked and had that fearless look in her eyes again.
- No... - I said a bit shy. Dam, that girl knows how to shut someone up!
- Good - and then the bell rang. She sighted in relief. - Finally!
-Finally what? If you didn't notice we still have one class. And don't forget that after it we'llhave detention.
- And thanks to who I ask? - she said with a tough look. Then she stood up and walked out of the infirmary. Fortunately I knew that she wasn't in my Math class. I think...
OH NO! SHE IS!
Wait! Perhaps she can help me!
I got all the strength I could find and got out of that uncomfortable infirmary bed. Gods that hurted! I grabbed my schoolbag and left the infirmary to the Math class.
When I arrived at the classroom. She was already there reading the Maths book. Wait... reading the Maths book?! That girl must really like school.
I sat in my usual seat. This time fortunately it wasn't next to her. She was right at the front and I was at the back.
When the teacher got in I was disappointed. It's not that I don't like Mrs. Wilson. She is the perfect kind of teacher that is so old that doesn't notice that you're sleeping. But at the same time, when you have ADHD it's kinda hard to either stay focused to what people are saying and when that person talks reeeeaaaaallllyyyyy sllloooowwww it's even harder.
Anyway, normally I pass the hole Mrs. Wilson's class looking at the window bored. But today I found myself looking at Annabeth. And listening to what she was saying. She must really understand Maths. She knew every single answer of every single question that Mrs. Wilson asked.
I was so lost in my thoughts that when the bell rang it sorta surprised me. Have I really been looking at her for that long? It didn't even fell like 20 minutes.
When looked back at her she was already gone.
I quickly got out of the classroom and made my way to the detention room.
Annabeth was already standing next to the door reading a book. I walked to her and stop right next to her.
- What are you reading?
- A book. - she didn't took her face out of it.
- I meant which book - I said with a smirk.
- This book. - she said still with her eyes on it.
The bell rang. She closed her book and started walking into the classroom.
I followed her. She was the only person I knew that was coming to detention too. And frankly, I don't know why, but I think that Wise Girl is much more then what she appears to be.
And trust me when I say this: I'm gonna figure it out.
