A long sigh escaped my lips as the cool summer air caught the rebellious stands of my dark curls. I watched from afar while counting the minutes that went by on my watch shaking my head. I cursing the person that brought me out here, feeling the cold bite at my nose.
"Of all the places..." I started "Why did she have to bring me out into this dark, abandoned looking Super Market? If it even is a super market..."
"I'm so sorry!" Came a small voice from behind me.
"You better be sorry..." I huffed looking in the direction the voice came from "Do you have any idea what time it is? Its way too late for us to be even out here" I whispered looking at my watch.
The small woman was now in front of me and she clasped her tiny palms together nodding her head as she spoke. "I know...But you're such a good friend for coming out with me."
Friend.
I disliked the word when it came from her.
I sighed once more before getting into my car. I slammed the door and started up the engine warming it up so the dark haired beauty before me could get settled. She pulled a small white plastic bag over her thighs holding it tight as she used her free hand to open up the car mirror, wiping pink gloss all over her pretty pink lips.
"You do realize you're going home? Right? No one will see that you're not all dolled up, besides you're gorgeous as is" I smirked reversing out of the drive way.
She winked in my direction as she opened up the bag slightly. "Well I might not be seen by other people but I always want to look pretty for you babe" She laughed her voice dripping with sarcasm.
I nodded my head as I let out a small giggle "Of course you do." I said silently while making our way back to my house.
We drove in compete silence, hearing nothing but the radio. The night air felt thick as we drove down the highway, everything feeling awfully slow. It was the night of the full moon, the night before my mother's birthday. The night that gets celebrated in my town because of some dumb urban legend that brings nothing but tourists. The man on radio channel spews nothing but happiness, advise and what not do until the blue eyed beauty spoke up.
"Lili?"
"Yeah..."
"I know this might be hard for you...but have you tried finding someone? You know.. since...Stev-
"No."
She sighed as she turned to face me, her light blue eyes scanning me for any sign of emotion.
"Well...will you be at your mother's birthday party?"
"Maybe...but I'm busy so I'll let you know."
We pulled up to my house parking my car in front of it as I turned the child lock off so Christie could get out.
"You know I'm always here for you don't you?"
I nodded.
She giggled as she handed me the plastic bag, kissing my cheek before she crossed the road jogging slightly to her house that was opposite mine. Waving back to me she stepped inside, blowing kisses at me before shutting the door.
I shook my head in complete disbelief as a small smile dusted my features. She's such a flirt. I laughed before making my way towards the front door.
I threw my keys on the living room table taking off all my outer clothing throwing them too in some random corner of the room while falling into the depths of my bed with the plastic bag in my hands.
I let out a long sigh as I pulled my long, frizzy hair back entangling the small strands within my fingers all the while detangling at the same time trying my best to not let my curiosity get the better of me. I paused, my birthday wasn't until next week so why did she feel the need to buy me a present?
I threw the bag on the floor turning to find the TV remote. I let out a huff in annoyance to find that the remote was right near the pale plastic bag, I leaned over my bed side, reaching over to get the remote when I got a sneak peak at the red cardboard paper that lay on top within the bag.
I giggled as I hadn't realised it, but it was a card with my name on it. 'Lili' which had the hearts over the I's instead of the usual dots.
"Who else but Christie?" I said aloud as I pulled the card off the bag reading the content that was inside.
' I know that you've had it rough lately and I just wanted to say how brave you've been. I know I'm not the kind of girl to write letters like this so don't say a word when you thank me tomorrow c:"
I shook my head as a small smile crawled up into my lips making me feel all warm inside as I pulled the black box that lay covered within the bag.
'IF you Wish it .'
I inspected the box, painted all black with only these words on it. 'Strange' I thought as I wondered how many of these 'boxes' might have been on the selves when Christie got them...
I put the box down as I decided that it wasn't really worth my time, the 'box' however pretty seemed strange and opening it would be something I might grow to regret. I layed back in bed as a loud thought slammed its way into my mind.
"I HAVE CLASS IN 6 HOURS!"
I threw the box under my bed as I too threw myself on the mattress.
'This is going to suck, I'm going to have zero energy.'
It took me a while, but I then began to feel my eye lids grow heavy, sleep gripping me as I let my long black eyelashes drop. the room was silent, the clock ticking away above me till I could hear it no more, my eyes then flew open as a foreign touch grasped my cheek. the room was empty, no one in sight. I thought nothing of it until the force pressed into my thighs, pushing it's weight onto it. I though my legs were about to snap, crying out in pain as I tried my best to sit up.
I couldn't
I tried to turn my head to grab my phone that was out of grasp. no use.
I laid there for what felt like forever until the pain subsided. I chuckled to myself as I thought that it was all in my head, a bad dream, nothing more than my own anxiety. I cursed at myself for almost giving myself a heart attack before finally being able to sit up, I switched on the TV letting some old cartoon play in the background like white noise, as I found myself drifting to sleep once again.
