Rejection

I avoided talking to both inojin and boruto the whole day. I just didn't know what to say...chocho told me that I couldn't run from this and she was right so I texted the two of them to meet me at the konoha park by the schools front gate. After school, I went there immediately and waited.

What do I do? What do I say? I mean I know what to say but how do I word it out? I know inojins gonna ask questions and I don't wanna explain this complicated crap that's just gonna make him feel more hurt. Uggghhhh

"Hey"
I looked over and found boruto being the first to show up. He was holding a burger in this right hand and his bag over his shoulder on the left

"Hey" I said back looking over at him before he took a bite of his burger and stood next to me

"Sorry I'm late. I was hungry. You should come with me sometime to-" he took another bite me finished chewing, "eat there sometime. It's really good"

I smiled, "that sounds great"

"Hey!" Inojin said running up to the two of us and stopping. He put him hand on his knees and bent over breathing

"Woah, why are you out of breath?" Boruto asked concerned

"I dropped my stuff off at my house and then realized I was late and ran here"

"Why didn't you take a car or the train?" Boruto asked before taking another bite

"There's no time to order a car and the trains are late today cuz it's a Monday and it's busy" he said catching his breath and standing up. "So did you make your decision?"

"Hm? Decision?" Boruto looked at the two of us confused

"Yeah...ya know boruto. She's gonna pick between us?"

"Oh yeahhhh!!! So that's why you texted me to come!! This makes a lot more sense"

Stupid boruto...and I'm gonna marry this guy..

"Anyway guys I need to talk to you" I said with a sigh and they both looked at me silently.

"I decided..."
The two of them looked at eachother and back at me.
"That I'm picking-"
"Wait!" Boruto said and both inojin and I looked at him. He took out his hand and put it in front of inojin, "listen inojin, you and I are friends and I don't want this to ruin our friendship so whoever she picks, no hard feelings right?"

Inojin smiled and shook his hand "yeah, no hard feelings. Please continue Sarada."

I took a deep breath, "I decided that I'm gonna pick boruto"

"........" the two of them were in complete silence and boruto jumped up, "yes!"

"Oh..." inojin looked at me hurt and confused, "can I ask why?- wait...I don't really wanna know...I hope we can stay friends Sarada at least"

"Y-yeah of course inojin I-"

"I'm gonna head home guys...see ya at school tomorrow"

"Oh...okay..." I looked down at me feat

"Sarada"

I looked up and at boruto

"I know you don't love me"

"Boruto I..."

"It's okay I don't love you either. But your doing the right thing okay? Plus...it's not like we are getting married yet. We are only gonna be engaged for a couple of years. Okay? Thank you though. This was the right thing. Later" he took a bite of his burger and turned around and began to walk away

"Hey boruto..."

"Hm?" He looked back at me

"Promise me you'll make this work...promise me I'll still be happy?..."

"I promise I'll do whatever I can to make this work but...I don't know the future. Let's just wait. Don't stress over it...it'll be okay" he turned around fully and walked away.

Don't stress over it? Don't stress over it!! How can I not!
