Sunshine is Fatal (For a Guy, At Least)

They walked out of the castle in silence, though (Y/N) was bouncing on her feet for some reason. Not like it was excitement, apprehension, or the strong need to take a dump. No, surely it wasn't the last one. Maybe she was just nervous.

"Are you okay, (Y/N)?"

"So, this human extinction thingy. Is. . . is it for real?"

A shadow passed over the two adventuresses' faces, but a quick smile replaced the grimace on Fionna's.

"Uh," Fionna cleared her throat. "So, uh, (Y/N). Anything you could remember from the past? How did you even get there?"

Cake elbowed Fionna's stomach, making her grunt in pain. The two fussed for a minute, then stopped after noticing (Y/N) looking at the them.

(Y/N) shrugged, quite unsure. "I guess my feet got me there. . . ? Okay, I don't know. I feel uneasy talking about it."

"Sorry. This must be really hard for you."

Right after that, they walked in silence, giving (Y/N) to organize her thoughts. What was she thinking? Maybe she wasn't ready for this.

"Hey, don't you think Marshall Lee is a little late? I thought he agreed to go with us. . ." Cake suddenly said. Fionna snorted.

"Oh, please. It'd be over my dead bod before that guy actually appears for once."

(Y/N) frowned. "Who's Marshall Lee?"

Fionna rolled her eyes, smiling at (Y/N) like she shouldn't even know. "Oh, (Y/N). I hope you wouldn't meet that guy—"

"Oof!"

(Y/N) tripped on something like a human figure that's bent, falling over it like a hurdle she failed to jump over. She landed face first on the ground with a hard thud. Cake immediately helped her up, dusting her shoulders and picking some leaves out of her hair.

"Damn. That was meant for you, Fionna."

Fionna punched something in the air, which gave off a faint, "Oof.". "Marshall! You jerk!"

A guy in a grey shirt appeared in front of (Y/N), his features hidden in the shade of the umbrella he has. (Y/N) sent a small frown in his direction, and it surprised her when a pair of dark eyes meet her gaze. She looked away, flushed and a bit angry.

The guy chuckled at Fionna, but she hit him square in the face with one of her punches.

"Ah! My cheek meat!" he complained. They scuffled for a moment, until Cake cleared her throat.

"Uh, won't you apologize to (Y/N) here, Marshall?" Cake said. (Y/N) decided to try to say it's cool, but  Marshall Lee already opened his mouth to speak.

"Thanks for making me eat grass," (Y/N) muttered sarcastically.

"Did you guys rescue this person from a hatch? Like last time?"

(Y/N) had to keep her temper in check. Even if she didn't know what on earth he was talking about, she felt offended. That must be offensive, based from his tone and the face Fionna made. This guy was too annoying. . .despite his really good looks. He didn't even apologize! Screw his devilishly handsome face. Wait. . .that sounded weird.

"Excuse me?" (Y/N)'s voice rose with indignation. Fionna seemed to have realized that the situation was taking a dangerous turn, so she just dragged (Y/N) along and smiled apologetically at her.

"I'm quite sorry about Marshall, (Y/N). He doesn't mean to offend you. He's just like that sometimes, blunt and stupid."

Behind them, Marshall complained, "This blunt, devilishly handsome fiend has ears, you know."
