Alicia's POV
My phone had rung, and it was an unrecognised number. I had a gut feeling that I should answer the call, just in case, so I did, I coughed before doing so, putting on a somewhat official voice. "Hello?" I said into the phone. I mean it was probably a prank call, or someone asking if I had been in an accident in the past 3 years, for the record, I haven't been. "Hello, is this Miss Alicia Gibson?" was the response I heard on the other end of the phone. Gabbie looked over at me, I gave a thumbs up in approval. "Yes, how can I help?" I said, my voice slightly shaky. The thing that was next to come was the thing I never expected.
Gabbie's POV
Alicia dropped to the floor, throwing her phone away. I ran to her. "Babe? Are you okay?" which was obviously a stupid question, as she shook her head and held her hands to her face. A loud sob exited her mouth. I knew something was wrong. "Mum... really ill... can't see her... i need somewhere to go..." she gasped between sobs. I held her as I answered the phone. I had to be strong for her. This was supposed to be one of the best few days of her life, but it's obvious it's not gonna be that way. I spoke to the man on the other end of the phone. "Would you be okay to adopt Alicia, it may not be permanent but it's until her Mum either makes a recovery, or the worst thing happens?" I took a deep breath, yeah I was expecting to meet a cute fan, perhaps a friend, but not a freaking DAUGHTER! "OK. I'll take her to the house to get her things and work it from there." I said, and hung up the phone. "Alicia?" I said, wiping her tears away. She looked up at me, laying down with her head on my legs, and I ran my fingers through her hair. "Just for a little while, you're gonna stay with me. Is that okay? We'll sort it all out I promise!" I said reassuringly. She nodded, and closed her eyes. Poor girl, she doesn't deserve this. I wouldn't wish a nightmare like this on my worst enemy, but my new mission is to make her happy. I know she hasn't had the best start to life, so the least she deserves is a new chapter of happiness.
Alicia's POV
Of course I was ecstatic to be staying with Gabbie. However, the numbness from knowing my Mum could die overruled the happiness. I closed my eyes to take in all of this news, and I woke up a few hours later, with Gabbie looking over at me, sipping a can of Pepsi. "We have to go get some of your stuff. Is that okay?" I nodded, while sitting up. Somehow, I had come to grips with the devastating news whilst I slept, and started to think positively. I was gonna get some time, presumably, in L.A with Gabbie. I even managed to crack a smile, before slipping my shoes on and heading out of the door to go home.
A/N - I didn't know where to go with this fan fic honestly, and a reader recommended an adoption twist (in a separate fanfic) would be a good idea and I decided to twist it into this book as I had no further ideas. Hope you enjoy lovelies
