It was 1889 in Liverpool, England and a 24 year old was in desperate need of a job. It was autumn and already coming close to winter, the once vibrant green leaves were dead and shriveled up on the stone cold paths that were filled with rats and maggots eating away at any dead rat or animal they could find, the trees used to have color I them but now they almost look dead possibly decayed, the houses were rotten and old with filth all over them, the sky was full of grey clouds covering all over England and maybe a bit of France. Fifi was scared to say the least, it was almost winter and had no place to stay for warmth whilst the winter was approaching rapidly, she couldn't stay at her sister's due to the fact her 'husband' couldn't stand the thought of letting someone as poor as Fifi to live in their 'perfectly clean' cottage for winter, Fifi always hated her sister's husband and the way how he treated her, night after night he would beat her sister for doing something out of line. She was a puppet to him. Despite her sister Fifi had always managed to survive by stealing and robbing from strangers and living in abandoned work houses and old cottages that would have clear signs they could fall down at any second. Fifi didn't have much to keep her warm either, she only wore ripped up shorts that gose to her knees and a ripped up shirt as well, her curly brown hair was mangled and filled with tats, knots and nits and clear sight of dead skin covering her scalp, her skin was almost pale as if she caught a illness that made her skin almost white as the snow, the only color in her, the specials she wore we're broken and cracked.the only color she showed was her bright violet eyes.
Having nowhere to go, no job, food or money, she decided to walk to her sister's. Maybe she would let her live there once more.
Fifi, begging strangers for money or food on her way to her sister's cottage. Fifi stumbled upon some wealthy women talking, curious to what they were saying,Fifi started spyed on them, listening cerfully as she followed the two to where ever they were going "Did you hear Margret?" One of the women asked in a posh voice as she looked towards her friend ,as she just looked back not saying a word "The traveling circus from London is coming into town this weekend, what is it called again?" The woman asked her friend "The fairy tale Dream" her friend finally spoke up a short time after. Fifi soon stopped following after them "what a waste of my time" Fifi thought out loud as she turned around and continued her way towards her sister's.
Finally after a hour walk Fifi made it to her sister's small cottage near the outside of town, it was fairly clean, no filthy rats or mice no signs of decay, it was..alright. knocking on the door calmly, Fifi waited pashenitl for an answer. After waiting 5 minutes whilst hearing crashes and bangs coming within the house (as if they had been fighting again) came out a angry looking man with matted blond hair and tired eyes wearing a suit, "Phill." Fifi spat in a stern voice as she eyed the man in disgust "Fifi" Phill replied after a while of staring at each other in anger, shortly a angle like voice could be heared down the long narrow hall "who's at the door dear?" Asked Emily Fifi's big sister as she approched the door, Phill on the other hand looked back at Fifi with a wicked smirk before shutting the door violently on Fifi face who gave a shocked exspresion towards what happened, getting in raged with anger before hearing Phill's words "nobody important!" He stated as Emily replied "oh! Well at least it's not my sister, she can get annoying when she stays over for Christmas" Fifi was heart broken at her sisters sentence. Once again getting angry Fifi stomped her way back into town cursing and muttering all the way.
It had been a cold week. . She had been place to place, city to city, town to town with little success finding a job. Things were looking bad, real bad.
After the isident with Fifi's sister and lack of jobs she still tried her best to find a job and earn money. Even a peny would do. deprived, tired and exhausted Fifi learned against a damp stone wall along a desissed filled alleyway, dark, cold filled with rats. Felling tired Fifi slid down losumly as her hands turned into firsts, clenching tightly as her nails dug into her pam drawing the slightest bit of thick red blood out of her pale hand as she covered her now dull violet eyes with her bloody fisted hands before groaning in anger. Rather then letting her anger out Fifi peacefully calmed down, resting her blood-soaked hands aide of her, she bursted into tears soon after.
Suddenly a strong gush of freezing cold wind swepet across the continent hitting specifically strongly at England. Aware of the change of weather Fifi stopped crying and hugged her self in an attempt to give her the slightest bit of warmth. Sitting uneasily on the stone path, shivering at the weather Fifi waited for something to happen, maybe she would just die due to her being exstreamly skinny, now winter has begun, Christmas not far behind, Fifi waited for the harsh winter wind and snow to kill her.
But all was not lost.
Fifi closed her eyes before having to re-open them by a strange noise coming from down the alleyway. Swish, swoosh the noise sounded like as if paper was being carried by the wind steadily towards her, Fifi confused looked in the direction were sound was coming from. Suddenly a poster gently landed face first in front of Fifi, she exsamned the poster, the back was dark red with golden pattern corners, puzzled Fifi slowly reached her hand out near one of the posh decorated corners of posters before flipping the sheet over on its face and gazzed at the colorful portrait, it was The fairy tale Dream circus, it had all the nicely dressed performers and the decorated host in the poster as well as elephants, lions and seals as well a monkey or two in the background. The title was a silver and gold text, posh and elegant with the words 'The Fairy Tale Dream.' With a little title underneath with the same posh text and style 'were we make your dreams come true'. Fifi had never seen such a poster in all her life! Sure she would see missing posters or book covers but, never as bright or intense. But, there was another text down at the bottom of the poster in plain black 'looking for new employees to help or preform in our circus, young or old, short or tall ,posh or poor. If you are interested please come on over to The Fairy Tale Dream this weekend were we can discuss bussnis. Thank you.' Overwhelmed with joy, Fifi shot up from her sitting passion. This was her last and only chance to earn money.
As Fifi ran, she thought ' maybe that circus wasn't a waste of my time after all' as
