My name is Alice. All my friends call me Ali and I am 15 years old.

My dad died when I was young, and he was the only one who really cared for me. I have a little sister named Leigh, and she was born eight months after my dad died. Well at least everyone thinks he died, he was in a plane crash. They never found the plane so they never knew if anyone survived.

My mom is an alcoholic, and she beats me. My sister gets beat sometimes, but she is only 9 years old. My friends support me and my best friend, Isabel, has parents that care for me like I am their child. We used to have sleepovers all the time, but now that Leigh is getting older my mom beats her more and more.

A year ago when Leigh was six, my mom came home from the bar and she slapped me so hard she knocked my tooth out. Then she yelled for Leigh to come down and I told Leigh to run and hid in the closet.

She hid and I got beat even more.

It didn't matter to me, as long as my little sister was safe.

We often talked about a better life, and we would daydream. One night Leigh came into my room and she told me that mom had punched her stomach and pushed her into the bathtub. She tripped, and now she was bleeding slightly on her forehead.

I went and got my first-aid kit, and I helped her stop bleeding.

"We can't live like this anymore Leigh," I said. "Where would we go Ali?" she replied. "To a better place," I said. We talked some more and we decide to raise money to get away. We had a cousin in New York, and she was awesome and she visited us every Christmas. She told us we could come live with her one day and we agreed. "A better life," we had both said. There were schools available and she would enroll us.

-alice_in_wonderland- umm can we move in?

-mags*in*the*rags- WHOA settle down pony gal... did u ask your mom? she would FREAK if u guys were gone

-alice_in_wonderland- please maggie she beats us and she threatened to KILL LEIGH

-mags*in*the*rags- WHOA yes i will buy you two plane tickets. u will fly out friday after school, k?

-alice_in_wonderland- THANK YOU SO MUCH ok just email me the rest of the info ok?

-mags*in*the*rags- k babe. luv ya tell leigh hi from me :) byeeeeeee

-alice_in_wonderland- luv u too bye

So that was great. Tomorrow was friday and i could hardly wait! I woke Leigh.

I told her and she was SO happy. Thank you God :)
