Moving In

After school we went to the pick-up lane. I picked Leigh up and we ran over to the taxi. The high school was right next to the elementary school, so I put our stuff in the locker for the next day.

We arrived at the curb, and there was a taxi with my name on it: ALICE HARRIS.

Leigh screamed happily, and ran towards the car. I told her to wait in the car, and I ran over to my bestie.

"I'm gonna miss you so much! Please don't go Ali!!!"

"Omg you KNOW I want to stay, but I have to go. My mom started beating Leigh for the past few weeks," I replied.

"I know but I will miss you. And my parents told me to give you this for your trip," she handed me a package.

Inside of the package was a check for 13,000 dollars and a brand new iPhone. I saw that the contract was already put in, and it lasted for about three years.

"I can't take this," I told her.

"No, you're going to, otherwise I will get in trouble because they think I took it. Oh yeah, and my phone number is already in there," she said.

"Thank you SOOO much and tell them that too. I have to go now but I LUV U Sista!"

"Bye babe have a good flight. I will miss you!"

After one final hug and a few tears, I finally got in the taxi and we took off.

Leigh's P.O.V

I was sitting in the cab watching my sister hug her friend. I wish I had friends, but all the people in my class were really mean to me. Especially the girls, but my teacher told me they were just jealous because I'm pretty.

Ali finally got in, and she told the cab driver something and we sped away.

I loved that school, although bad things happened there.

When we finally arrived at the airport, I got out of the car and ran to get my suitcase. I hated planes, because my father crashed in one.

My sister was busy talking to a young teenage guy around her age, and they were exchanging phone numbers.

Ugh, I thought. It was so easy for Ali to get the guys, and I was the annoying little sister. Always. I decided to stop thinking about it.

We finally got through the bag check, and we were standing in line waiting to board the plane. It would only take a few hours in the plane since we were already in North Carolina.

I began reading my book and I relaxed. We were now in the plane, and we were taking off now. I was so scared.

Ali's P.O.V

The plane ride was very scary, and there was a lot of turbulence. I didn't have any internet, but as soon as we touched down, I might text that cute boy I met.

His name was Jake, how original, I thought. He was super hot though, and he was very sweet too. If he texted me, I would MELT.

We touched down, and there was another taxi waiting for us. Since we flew in to buffalo we had to drive a few hours to get to New York City.

When we got to the apartment, we took the elevator. There was another lady in the elevator, and she was wearing 8" stiletto heels. She had a leopard dress on, and she was wearing a big hat and sunglasses.

Leigh and I were just wearing normal jeans and tops, along with some knitted sweaters our Grandma Mina had made for us.

This apartment complex looked like it was for RICH people.

We finally got to the apartment on the 9th floor, and we got to room 919. It was her room and the door had a glass-stained window on it. We rang the doorbell, and a maid answered.

"Are you Leigh and Alice?" she asked us. "Yes, hello I am Alice and this is my sister Leigh," I politely told the maid.

"You may come in now. If you want me to take your bags up to your rooms I can," she replied.

"Ummm yes that would be great, but do you know where my cousin is?" I asked her.

"Oh yes she is at work. She works for the magazine People, and she is the editor," the maid said.

I read her name tag and it said Angela.

"Umm can I call you Angela?" I asked her.

" Yes you can," said Angela.

Wow, if Maggie works for the People magazine, she really must be RICH.

"Thank you," Leigh and I said in unison. We may have been raised by an abusive mother, but we were not rude.

We came out from the hall, and we were in a giant room. Instead of walls there were big, glass windows overlooking the skyline of New York City. There were the most modern chairs and couches for the big living room, and the dining room was connected.

It had a big chandelier, and the table was dark brown with white chairs around all sides. The kitchen was a dream. It had an island in the middle, and it also had white high chairs to sit on. The fridge was stainless steel, and the counters were white.

When we came out of the rooms, we saw that there was also a gym, an office, a small half bathroom, and two guest rooms on the first floor that were decorated beautifully! But that wasn't it, there was a SECOND floor! On the second floor there were two big bathrooms with beautiful, claw-foot tubs, high tech showers, and it contained a huge sauna! There were also three bedrooms, and on the door of two of them were beautiful signs with our names on them.

I went in my room and Leigh went into hers. My room had a big canopy bed that was pink and white, and a beautiful desk that was also white, but it had markers and colored pencils and any other kinds of art supplies you can imagine. On the side by the window, there was a big easel with paint brushes, canvases, and paint! I didn't paint, but I would definitely start!

There was also a big couch with millions of cushions on it, and it was white with a pink furry rug under it. There were shelves, and a walk in closet! The best thing was, the closet was full! It had shoes, coats, dresses, shirts, skirts, pants, pajamas, and even loads of brand-new earrings.

I heard tapping on the hard-wood floors, and I turned around to see a Yorkshire Terrier! It had a collar that read Emmy. I was in a dream, although I guessed that the dog was my cousin's.

Leigh and I switched places, I looked at her room and she looked at mine.

Leigh had pretty much the same room as me, just different decorations, colors, and clothes. But when I went back into my room, I saw that there was another door on my wall. I opened it and Leigh followed me in. It was a... bathroom!!! It doesn't sound exciting, but it was! It had a glass floor, and there were fish under it! Beautiful Angel Fish, starfish, and many other fish! I even swear I saw a baby shark.

There were shells on the wall of the bathroom, and the sink had a little soap holder covered with shells. There was a tub, and a shower in the same room, and there was another tiny room to fit two people, and I realized it was a sauna!

After all of this excitement I put my phone on the nightstand(which had a crystal lamp on it) and I went into my closet. Once I was in my closet, I changed into a D&G silk pajama, and I laid down on my bed and pillows. It wasn't night yet, but I needed a nap after the long day. I checked my phone and Jake hadn't texted me. I didn't care, I was a pretty girl and he would contact me eventually. I turned off my lamp, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was asleep.
