Chapter 6
At school, Tara and I both head to our homeroom class. Alexandria is telling everyone about a new kid being in our homeroom. That meant everyone knew about the new kid. Everyone settles down when Ms. Hogan came in the classroom.
"Everyone we have a new student in our class. Please welcome him to moonlight high." Ms. Hogan said.
A boy came inside and he looked familiar to me, but I didn't know where I've seen him before.
"My name is Lucas Mason." The new kid said.
I immediately recognize his voice. He's the same guy from the park. I look up at him and realize he looks exactly the same as the boy in my dreams. My heart starts pounding and I start to panic. Tara looks directly at me and she knows something is wrong. I regret not telling her about the boy from yesterday. I plan on telling her right after school. My thoughts get interrupted by Ms. Hogan.
"Mr. Mason, please find an empty seat." Ms. Hogan said.
I start to panic he starts scanning the room. I put on my hoodie and hope that he doesn't recognize me. I see him look at an empty seat next to me. He moves to the seat next to me. He doesn't look up at me and I just hope he didn't recognize me. I watch Lucas sit down and I realize he's cute. I look away and told myself to stop staring. I heard the bell ring and I rushed out the door. I head to social studies, which is Ms. Clark's class. I scan the room to see if Lucas is in my class. I didn't see him anywhere which, meant he isn't in my class. I relax in my chair and take notes for the rest of class. The bell rings and I head to science class. Lab materials were spread on the tables and I was so glad I took notes yesterday. I head to a table and Ms. Collins started saying something, but I didn't pay attention. I see Lucas by the door and I start to panic. Ms. Collins was telling him to grab the seat next to me! I scan the room and hope there's an empty seat someplace else, but there isn't. I couldn't move and I couldn't breathe. Ms. Collins tells Lucas to take the seat next to me. I look at him and our eyes meet. He takes the seat next to me and doesn't say anything. Ms. Collins tells us to get our notes out. She approaches me and asks me to let Lucas share my notes, I nod in agreement and show him my notes. She knew I hated to be called on and I always try to avoid attention. I felt relieved that I didn't have to talk to anyone. I show my notes to Lucas, and he scans them.
"The first thing we need is one cup of vinegar and water. Then, we need a cup of baking soda.", He said.
Lucas points to the cups with baking soda. I grab the cups and fill one with water and the other with vinegar. Lucas tells me to add two spoon fulls of baking soda to both cups. I didn't know what I was doing, but he seemed to know what he was doing. When I add the baking soda, one of the cups fizzes all the way to the top. We wrote down the results and cleaned the materials. I hear the bell ring and head to lunch. Lucas catches up to me and grabs my shoulder. His touch made me shiver and it made me nervous. I stop walking, but I don't turn around to face him.
"Your'e Amy, right?"
I shake my head and say
"Sorry, I think you have me mistaken for someone else." I lied.
I head to lunch and I see Tara in her seat. She saved me a spot next to her, and I'm so glad that I didn't have to deal with anyone taking my seat. I always like to sit in the same spot to avoid people and I try not to embarrass myself. I start to tell Tara about what happened yesterday and the strange dreams I've been having, lately.
