"Aye, look at my best mate!" Jon yelled. He ran from the loft and helped me with my bag, and I groaned, dizzy for a moment. He stopped and looked at me, concern flooding his handsome features.

"Chemo's a bit dodgy," I mumbled, when he reached out to steady me.

He nodded, not convinced at all, "Yeah, well, it's going to make you better."

He helped me up the front steps and opened the door for me. "Steph's upstairs. Napping, I think."

That wasn't a surprise. Our father's new girlfriend had a habit of locking herself in the bedroom when word came that I was coming home. Benji came out from the kitchen then, and handed me a glass of water. "Jonjon told me if I didn't serve you every moment, he'd conk me in the nose."

I rolled my eyes and grinned, "Don't worry about this one, he's all mouth and no trousers. Besides, I can very well get my own shit, thank you."

Jon left me on the plush tan couch and gave me the remote. "Want me to put in a show for you?"

I shook my head, exhausted from the ride over. "Don't you work?"

I cracked my eyes open a dab to see his face. He itched the back of his neck and tugged on his hair.

"Oh," he let out a long breath, his stubbly cheeks puffing out like a blowfish, "I'm actually taking off. Told Steph I'd be helping out with you, since she can't be bothered to get out of bed."

We both scoffed.

"Like she's the one with the cancer." I muttered.

Benji plopped down on the sofa next to me with a bag of skittles. "Dad'd be miffed if he heard you talking like that."

He snuggled next to me, and I gave his hair a good ruffle. "Come now, let me sleep."

"After can you sing the song?"

I chuckled and nodded my head, "Of course babycakes, we mustn't forget the molahonkey song."
