Diana sat in the bar until noon. She set her empty beer cup down and licked her top lip, a sign she liked what she had tasted. She sighed and looked around and exitted the pub. She began her walk back, her head down still thinking.
What's going on with me?! I need to stop and just come clean.... Or even better yet, just forget all about this.. Get a new job.. Move to another state. Get a new identity....
She coudln't help but laugh slightly at the ideas. She looked up and sighed.
"No, that won't work.." She said reluctantly. She pulled her ciggerate case out of her pocket and took one out after taking out her lighter. She cupped her hand around the tip and lit the tobbacco. She took a small puff and exhaled the smoke slowly. She smiled as she quoted a line from one of her favorite books, called Looking For Alaska.
"You smoke to enjoy, I smoke to die." She said simply, her lips still clutching the ciggerate as she leaned agaisnt a pole. Crossing her ankles as she did with her arms, she closed her stormy grey eyes. She opened her eyes a while later and walked down to the liqour store.
"Hey, Bert.." She said to the man behind the counter.
"Hello, Diana." Replied the old man as he gave her a small wave.
After waving back to him, she grabbed a Dr. Pepper and then a 12-pack of the same soda and plopped them on the counter. "Marlboro, redpack." She said and put a $20 bill down to pay for everything.
OldMan Berty had only just smiled and started ringing her stuff in as the bell dinged. Diana didn't look up but heard a familiar voice talking to her.
"Will?" She asked, wonmdering if her eyes had begun to decieve her. She smiled broadly and threw her arms around her best friend, in whom she hadn't seen for years.
