Backstory: Her mother broke the warrior code by becoming a mate with a kittypet, and having kits with him. Starclan killed two kits for punishment. But let the weakest survive, convinced it would die on its own. Birdkit lived. Streamsong left the Tom and went back to Sageclan where they welcome her and her kit with open paws.
