It was a dark, cold night on the large metal ship full of sleeping children. All but two. A young girl by the age of 5 and an infant, trying to sleep. But that seemed impossible. They were afraid and freezing, the only heat the children could use was each others and the heat of their clothing. Hazel looked down at her baby brother who was wide awake and shaking from the cold, she could see goosebumps on his little arms and legs. Looking at the clothing she was wearing, Hazel set Samuel down for a moment and ripped the bottom part of her velvet dress. "This won't help me get warm, but it would help my brother." She thought as she carried Samuel in her arms again and wrapped the long scrap of her dress around him. He gently cooed as Hazel covered his stiff body, grabbing her hands now and then. She chuckled at him lightly and held him against her body, rocking him. Soon enough, Samuel fell asleep. Hazel continued to rock him and sighed shakily, feeling a cold breeze go past her. She sagged against the cold metal wall, trying her best to get warm.
"Wake up you little runts!" A raspy voice of a female yelled. Hazel immediately woke up, feeling exhausted. Samuel was still fast asleep in her arms, cuddling against her. She squinted her eyes, It was still dark since there were no windows of any kind on this ship, looking around the room hearing children mutter and groan as they get up. Some of them were even coughing sickly. "I said get up!" The woman yelled again, grabbing some of the children up and shoving them. Hazel got up, feeling the ships rocking and swaying. "We are close to land so lesson to me carefully. Once you get off this boat you will be sent to the auditorium where all of you brats will meet the head leader of the orphanage. If any of you disrespect or do anything stupid, you will be severely punished. Do you all understand?" The children were quiet, some of them were even afraid. She raised her voice, "Do you understand?!"
"Yes!"
"Yes what?"
"Ma'ma."
"Good."
Nobody talked for the rest of the ride there but many of the children were hungry, Hazel was as well. But of course, the woman only yelled at the children for "complaining" about it. Soon, the boat stopped and the children walked out onto the dock. Hazel followed and realized how there was no sunshine. She looked over the ocean as a cool breeze went through her hair, noticing the dark gray sky. "Maybe it was going to rain?" She turned and looked at this large island... well, it wasn't an island actually. It was a large dock with four buildings on it. The biggest building had a large two sided door with a glass dome on the top. It also had a balcony that was shaped like an oval or a circle on the sides with rails. The two smallest buildings had two sided doors as well and one large window that almost looked like an eye in a way. The last building was almost as big as the other one. It has one large door with no windows. The strangest thing was that this building had a normal house roof and not domes like the other ones. "Come on, off the boat! Off the boat!" Hazel turned around looking at the other children. She saw a chubby boy with freckles walk past her and another child with beautiful blond locks who was talking to a shy looking boy. So many faces. "Gack!" She looked down, noticing how her brother was awake. "Everyone off?"

AdventureThis story starts off with two children, Samuel Raymond and Hazel Raymond. Hazel was the oldest but unlike other children her age, she was very smart and full of ideas. Samuel, however, was confused and obnoxious about everything. I don't blame him...
