"Im telling you! It wasn't me!" I shouted at the officer.
"Okay, okay. Just tell me your parents number."
"Why would you need my parents number if I didn't do anything?"
Sighing, the officer scratched his beard and looked at me. I could already see on his face that he didn't believe one word I was saying.
"Officer, please just check the security cameras. It wasn't me, okay? It was this short haired girl with a sleeve full of tattoos."
"My workers have gone to check, as you requested...32times. But in the meanwhile, I need your parents number."
I folded my arms in my uncomfortable seat with a growl.
"Fine." I said as I filled in the paper he had placed in front of me 15 minutes ago. "Here."
"You only filled out one."
"Well some people only have one parent."
The officer coughed and avoided eye contact with me. What a inconsiderate bastard, I thought.
"...Sorry. Stay here until I come back."
"Yes sir." I said with a mocking salut. He frowned at me as he left his office.
About 20 minutes of doing absolutely nothing, I heard the door open with a huge slam. Then, in came my dad and my twin brother, Jesse. The look on dad's face suggested I was about to be in grave trouble.
"You burned what in the local library???? Where did you even get a lighter? Young lady, you are in so much-"
"Dad! Chill out it wasn't me! I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time."
"Max! Do not tell me to 'chill out'! I did not raise you as a crimminal!"
Right when I was about to open my mouth, the officer walked in with a much smoother expression on his face.
"Max, we just finished checking the cameras and you were right, we are incredibly sorry. You too, mister. Im sorry we wasted your time."
Sighing in relief my dad folded his arms and said, "Did you find who is actually responsible for the mess?"
"Yes. She is outside, waiting for Max so she could apologize."
"And this was her idea? To apologize?"
"um... no, but. We'll make her, don't worry."
When I walked out of the office with my family behind me, I saw her- slouched on a chair with her long legs crossed. A sudden rage swarmed over me and I walked right up to her, despite my fear of her as well.
"Hey!"
She looked right up at my towering figure and I was again reminded by how insanely attractive she was. Gosh... did the gods sculpt her with 10times more effort than the rest of us? This wasn't fair.
"Oh hey, beautiful. Fancy meeting you here." She said with a smile, somehow leaving me out of breath.
"Oh hey? Fancy meeting you here? Is that what you have to say to me?" my voice slowly rised.
She pursed her lips together and ran her hand through her dark hair. I noticed the tattoos on her fingers- JUST LOVE. ...Nice."Fine, im sorry I left you with my shit. Whats your name?"
"Max."
"Max, cool name. I'm Ruby. Nice to meet you."
"Wish I could say the same."
Ruby chuckled at my remark and shot me a grin. And for some bizarrness, my heart started racing. What was i doing?
The officer stepped in front of us, and handed me a simple form.
"Here, you can fill this in and you are free to leave. And you, miss Rose, can come with me." He said as he grabbed Ruby's tatted up arm and lifted her from her seat.
"Ah! Easy with the pull, Eric"
"That's officer to you, miss Rose."
"Sorry, thought we were on first name basis."
Ruby said as the officer dragged her towards his office door. She turned to look at me and did that same wink thing again."See you around, Max."
