Ruby had something about herself that made me both relaxed, yet nervous in her presence.

We talked on those worn out couches for hours- about her adventures during the past year she disappeared, and her finally embracing who she was meant to be. She told me stories that I wouldn't have believed were true if it wasnt Ruby Rose who was telling them.
We even talked about my family too. About my twin brother Jesse and my mom, who passed away giving birth to us. "Must be tough, never knowing who she might have been." Ruby had commented.
"You dont miss what you've never had." Was my reply.

We were in the middle of another conversation, when we heard the song change beyond the walls. Ruby's head snapped up and she grinned.

"This is one of my favorites." Then she looked at me with those daring eyes. "Get your ass off the couch, Max. Lets get on the dance floor."

"Oh, I can't dance." I quickly said.

"Can't, or you won't?" She challenged me while stepping closer and closer to me.

"Can't." I gulped.

"I dont believe that." She smiled as she grabbed my hand and pulled me off the couch.
I toppled over and Ruby laughed as she dragged me out of the backstage room.

The music felt even louder than the first time. Colorful lights hit me in all spots and Ruby glanced back as she led me into the dance floor.
We stopped and she turned around, slipping her thumb in my belt loop and pulling me closer to her. My eyes were darting across every inch around us.

"Stop looking like a lost chicken, and loosen up." Ruby's voice echoed.

"I dont know how!" I shouted back.

"First time for everything, right?"

As soon as Ruby began dancing, she was all i could keep my eyes on. What couldn't this girl do? She held my hand and twirled me, which didnt seem appropriate for a place like this but was still pretty darn fun. I broke into laughter and Ruby did too.
I began to sway to the music too and somewhere in the flow of the music, i heard Ruby say, "I knew you could dance."
It was strange, how only after i started dancing that the lyrics of the song became audible.

The loud mechanical noise pumping out of the speakers cut, and a soft but intoxicating voice waltzed into my ears.

We don't have to wait all night-

To know if this is really love.

We dont have to wait all night-

Cause I can feel you in my blood.

A lopsided grin spread on Rubys face and her hands let go of my waist.
And that was when the music switched back to its original tempo, blasting out from all corners.

And then, something happened.

Something crazy.

Maybe it was the music in our veins,

Or maybe i was just completely insane...

But we kissed.

Right there, on the dance floor.
