* Julia's POV *

"We have to go NOW." I grab Matty's arm and stand up, pulling him up with me. Shit, he wasn't supposed to be home so soon. It's only 8 and my father usually comes home, if ever, after midnight.

"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU LOT?!" Yeah, he's definitely drunk. A great achievement for him at this early hour.

"What's going on, Julia? Who is that?" Matty looks confused and concerned. I ignore his questions and look for a way off the fire escape. Going back inside is not an option with my father being present. I lean over the railing and see a metal ladder that leads to the sidewalk below.

"Here, this way." I swing myself to the other side of the railing and descend down the ladder. Matty follows me as my feet hit the pavement.

"Julia, who was that. Why did we have to run?" Matty questions again as we hastily walk down the street. Others from the party have gotten into a van, and to my relief I spot Jace among them. At least he's safe, I try to calm myself.

I turn to Matty once the apartment is out of sight. His eyes are filled with concern as they lock on mine. I find it hard to meet his dark eyes.

"To answer your question, that man was my father. And we had to run because I know him all too well."
