The brothers were very cautious. Everything they'd do would be carefully conducted, as to not bring up the incident from the night before. They were brothers. Bottom line. Nothing could change that. Except maybe one thing.

"I heard you." Alpha said as he stepped back into Bro's room from the shower. He held the towel to his waist and stood taller as Bro turned, as if standing on his top toes to intimidate Bro would make him feel superior.

"What do you mean?" Bro's eyes trailed down his body. He looks away, hoping he hadn't noticed.

"You said you loved me. Last night, when you thought I was asleep."

"I didn't."

"Yes you did, you said it." He stepped closer, feeling a bit embarrassed, it could've been his imagination before dozing off.

"No. I never said that."

"Darren, I know you did-" he was cut off and Bro stood.

"I didn't mean it okay? I lied! I said it because-" He knew this was all wrong, that what he was saying wasn't right, and it was going to crush David's heart. At least if he actually cared for Darren, as he says he does. "I wanted you happy! But we're brothers, David! This is wrong! Disgusting! And repulsive! I don't want to be with you!" He yelled out, so much air escaping his lungs he had to gasp for breath once finished.

David stood, dumbfounded. Bro couldn't read his expression. Yet he was the only one who ever could. "So that's what you really think of me?" He teared up at the words that had been yelled at him. "Disgusting and repulsive." He looked down, tears finally falling from his eyes. "I always thought I was the only one who thought those exact things about myself, every damn day." He looked back up at Bro. "Good to know I wasn't the only one thinking it my whole life."

"David." He tried to apologize. The words, they wouldn't let him speak. He couldn't, his mouth stayed silent. Not one word managed to escape the havoc his body was putting against him.

He spoke a single word, "Don't." And walked away, slamming his bedroom door shut. Bro jumped lightly at the noise.

"Damn it." He yelled out. So angry with himself his mind played tricks on him, telling him the terrible truth he feared. How could he explain to David he didn't mean those things? He could always talk to David, about anything. He drew in a deep breath and walked toward the door. Bro knew this was one battle he could not talk himself out of. And he could not win.

"David." He knocked lightly on the door. "David." He grew worried and opened it, finding a sight he wish he hadn't.
