I stood up quickly and followed after the doctor quickly, followed by Chul-Hwan. I walked back into Minna's room to have the sound of the heart monitor fill my ears. I walked over to the bed, Minna was laying there, her chest slowly rising with her breaths. She was asleep but the doctor had saved her, I had no idea how, but he did.
"Y-you got her back?" The doctor smiled and nodded,
"I wasn't giving up that easily, she's a mother and I can tell you love her, she couldn't die, not on my watch..." I smiled and Chul-Hwan walked up next to me. He pat my head and shook the doctors hand,
"Hello, I'm Minna's brother, we can't thank you enough..." The doctor smiled and replied,
"It's all in a day's work" I hugged the doctor and then went over to Minna's side, brushing some hair off her forehead. She looked weak but I knew she was breathing and that's all that mattered. I kissed her forehead and the doctor spoke up again, "do you two want to see the babies?" I looked at the doctor and Chul-Hwan and I nodded eagerly. The doctor lead us out, sending in a nurse to make sure Minna was okay. He took us into the NICU, going over to the farthest side, where the twins were sleeping quietly. They looked peaceful...
"How are they doing? I asked, smiling and walking over.
"They are actually very healthy for being born prematurely, it looks like Minna took most of the fall and the babies were uninjured. They will have to stay here for about another week thought to develop, which will work out perfectly with Minna's discharge date" he smiled and I nodded, happy everything would be okay. I looked down at the babies and lightly held onto Haneul's hand. They were really small, but adorable still. I sat down and looked at the doctor,
"Can we hold them?" The doctor thought for a second before sighing. He looked at the babies and nodded,
"Yeah okay that is fine but you must be extremely careful" I nodded and he picked up Minhye, keeping one of the wires still attached to her arm. I held my arms out and he gently placed her into my arms. I was holding my baby girl for the first time. She woke up and moved around, stretching her small hands out and waving her arms around. I guess she was trying to get used to being held. I looked up and smiled at Chul-Hwan, who was rocking Haneul gently and talking to him about something. I looked back down at Minhye and she looked at me, patting my face lightly. I smiled and laughed slightly, letting her hold onto my pointer finger gently. She moved around a little and sniffled a bit, starting to cry. I looked up at the doctor, looking for help, I didn't know what to do. I gently bounced her which helped a little but she kept crying.
"She's probably hungry, I'll be right back..." I nodded and he left the room. I kept trying to calm Minhye down but she only stopped crying for a little while. I held her close and kissed her forehead lightly.
I was just glad nothing bad had happened to them.
Chul-Hwan was sitting quietly with Haneul, who was lightly poking his face. I smiled at him and he looked up at me, smiling back before slowly looking at the door. He sighed and looked down,
"You think Minna will be okay?" Minhye slowly started crying again and I bounced her lightly while replying.
"I know she'll be okay, she's a fighter...at least I really hope so...." I looked down at Minhye, who was still crying, I talked to her quietly, "I know I know...I'm hungry too....just hold on a bit longer..." I poked her nose and she stopped crying for a little, looking up at me.
The doctor came in a little bit later with two bottles of milk, handing one to both me and Chul-Hwan. I looked down at her and gently placed the bottle by her mouth. She started drinking and I held her close to me, seeing the doctor walk back out. I wondered where he was going. I looked at Chul-Hwan, raising an eyebrow. He shrugged and I looked at the babies, they were so adorable. I smiled and a little while later the doctor came back, only this time pushing Minna in a wheelchair. She smiled brightly at the sight of us and I smiled back, wanting to run up and hug her. I stayed there and kept feeding Minhye as the doctor pushed her over to me.
"Want to hold her?" I asked her quietly, holding Minhye a bit closer. Minna nodded eagerly and reached out, taking her gently with the bottle as well. She looked down at Minhye, whispering quiet things that even I couldn't hear. She slowly moved her gaze over to Chul-Hwan, who was still, at least trying, to feed Haneul. Haneul kept turning away but kept crying. The doctor went over when Chul-Hwan pouted and plopped the bottle down, unsure what to do. Minna slowly managed to scoot over and traded babies with Chul-Hwan, lightly brushed her thumb on Haneul's cheek, instantly he started to stop crying. Minna smiled and looked down at him before deciding to take back Minhye also.
Even as she sat in a wheelchair, fragile and relatively weak, an IV hooked up to her arm and an oxygen tube for her nose. I was the girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
She held a twin in each arm and I smiled slightly, this was my family, and I never wanted to change them at all. I knew what I was going to do, I was sure now. As soon as we were out of the hospital.Comment you thoughts please and up-vote! I would love you forever!
