It didn't take me very long to reach town. My home is only a few kilometers away, an easy jog. Just before I walked out of the tree line I changed back into my human form. Didn't want to scare off anyone.
To my surprise, the town was pretty quiet. I pulled my hoody up over my head and walked down the streets with my hands in my pockets. If it weren't for the fact I was different, I think I could live there. All I ever wanted was to live a normal life, not be hunted, not forced to do things against my will – life sucked for us non-humans. Some of us were lucky, they could hide their powers no problem. But for me it was near impossible, I had to feed off humans. My wolf side wasn't exactly easy to control on a full moon either making matters harder.
The streets were quiet, barely anyone in site. But that was to be expected as it was 3:30am now. I probably should've come earlier, but the issue is my hunger in unpredictable. I can go 5-6 days or 2 weeks without feeding. It all depends. Must be easier for full vampires, they can work out when their hunger will peak. I can sort of guess but as I said it all depends.
I walked for a good half an hour around town. I was about to call it quits and come back tomorrow when I saw two men walking my way. They appeared to be in their early twenties, maybe younger. It was hard to tell. I hid around the corner and peeked out just enough to get a better view of them. The male on the left had a masculine build. Definitely a heavy lifter. His hair was sunset orange and messy, and a few freckles on his face. The man on the right also had some muscle, but wasn't as bulk. He was slimmer. His hair was a shade turquoise and what appeared to be black at the tips of his hair. He wore a leather jacket with a hoody underneath. That was going to make feeding a bit tricky, and the more masculine male would cause trouble if I didn't get him first. However despite their builds, it wouldn't be too much of a challenge, and as much as I hate feeding off humans, I had to. Because honestly, I had put off feeding for a few days since hunger settled in. I don't want to do it, but I have to.
I waited quietly. No one else was around so if I was quick enough, I could get away unnoticed. Of course I wouldn't drink them dry though. I may be different by I did have some morals I lived by if I was ever to be accepted one day. I doubt I would be but I could dream. It's all I had. As they turned the corner I decided to follow them for a bit till I got closer. When I was within range I tapped the more masculine male on the shoulder. He turned around and that's when I struck him on the head making him hazy. This in turn got the other males attention and made him alert. But unfortunately for them they couldn't match my strength and skill. Both were on the ground within a matter of seconds. To my surprise, the slimmer male was a good fighter despite his build. I got closer to the more masculine male lifting his chin to make his neck easier to bite into. However though, as I lent in to bite into his surprisingly soft skin, I was struck from behind, and fell unconscious.
