Accuse Me Again!

Chapter 11

Ryan's POV:

It was nice feeling Collin's lips against mine. In that moment, the weight of all that has happened disappeared, if only for a few seconds i felt weightless. When he pulled away the blush on my cheeks grew as i turned away awkwardly. Collin was my first kiss, my step brother. Collin got up to leave with a look of disappointment and hurt on his face.

"Please don't go. Stay with me for the night. I don't want to be alone."

"Sure Ry."

I fell asleep to the sound of Collin's breath, the rise and fall of his chest rhythmic with the ticks of a clock. Collin's presence helped me feel safe and secure as the night turned to morning.

Max's POV:

After seeing Ryan, i went back to Kate and Jamie, the way Jamie slept was so cute. I couldn't stop staring at the rise and fall of her chest as she slept peacefully. I heard some noise behind me as Kate looked at me.

"Hows Ryan?"

"He's doing ok, now. It's all my fault." i moved into the chair next to Kate's bed.

"You didn't know what he was going to do baby. He just needs to remember that he is loved and that no one can or will hurt him again. He's been through alot lately."

"I know, i just feel like i should have been there for him more. I should have protected him better."

I slumped deeper into the chair as the weight of today's events slowly climbed deeper into my mind and body. I was suddenly feeling the eight hours of anticipation and nerves settle on me as i gently drifted to sleep.

Detective Cody Smith's POV:

We got the call early in the morning. As we raced over, our hearts were pounding from excitement and adrenaline. Looking at the small figure, still fast asleep, warmed my heart. Jamie. Jamie was the light in the storm that has been raging around these two families. Looking at Jamie, so innocent and peaceful, she reminded me of a time when Kate was just born and we got to hold her. Kate was so small and yet at that moment, i knew she was going to be a fighter.

"Jamie reminds me of you as a baby, Kate. She is so adorable."

As i handed Jamie off to Andy, Max came in with Ryan by his side. When Ryan saw Jamie his eyes widen and he started to cry.

Ryan's POV:

I was still tired from last night but when Max came in saying that Jamie was awake, i was really excited. Seeing Jamie brightened my day. When Andy handed Jamie off to me i was afraid that i would drop her. Jamie was so small and light in my arms. She started giggling and i couldn't stop smiling.

"I think Jamie is happy to see her godparent"

"I'm- I'm her godparent?"

"Yes."

I couldn't believe it. She was so cute and i got to be her godparent.

"Who's her other godparent?"

"We decided that you would be her only godparent. You are special Ryan and we love you dearly. We hope that you will accept this and also help us look after her at home."

"Yes!"
