I up to the sweet smell of Tris's hair. I sat up, looked around, and laid back
down. This time Tris was awake; smiling at me. "Morning," she said as she
yawned. I leaned over and kissed her on her forehead. "Morning."
I got up and went to take a short shower.
Today was the day new initiates came to Dauntless. Tris and I would have a lot of work to do. As soon as I got in the shower, Tris got up to get dressed.
When I came out, she was dressed and ready with two chocolate muffins in her hand. "Here," she said as she handed me one.
"Thanks. You excited?"
"For the new initiates?"
I nodded.
"I guess. I mean...it's always the same every year." She sounded a bit sad.
I gave Tris a confused look and she explained. Tris said that every time new initiates came, there would always be a girl interested in me. And that girl would try to sabotage our relationship.
I looked into Tris's eyes and saw the sadness. I leaned in and gave her a long, passionate kiss on her lips. "I love you Tris."
"I love you too."

Tris and I agreed we would meet Christina and Will in the Pit. We talked about the new initiates and training. Soon, the train arrived with the new initiates.
Max told the initiates what to do. Soon--after a few minutes--a girl jumped. She was screaming and laughing! I helped her off the net. "What's you're name? Think about it. You don't get to choose again."
"Uh...Charlotte. Amity."
"First Jumper--Charlotte! Amity!" I turned to her and said, "Welcome to Dauntless."

"Listen up transfers!"
Everybody got quiet.
"My name's Four! To my right is Six! We're gonna be your instructors for the next few weeks."
Somebody snorted at the mention of our names. His name was Ethan. I walked up to him slowly to scare him.
"Is there a problem? Ethan."
"No."
"Good. Now! Each day you will come and be ready for training at 8:00 sharp! You will have a break for lunch. Training goes up to 6:00! After that you may do whatever you want!"
Tris and I lead the transfers to the pit and explained the training. At the mention of fighting, everyone tensed up--Benny, especially. I knew it. A weakling.

As Tobias was telling the transfers about training, I noticed Missy glancing at Tobias at least twice a minute. Just as I thought. I knew there was something I didn't like about her. Missy was from Candor. She wore a white shirt with black jeans. I continued to stare until she stared back.
At lunch I sat in between Tobias and Christina. She and Will were training the Dauntless-born along with Lauren. "So, how are your initiates?"
"They're okay. You?"
"They're great! Really good at fighting!"
I just smiled.
I turned to Tobias and talked about the fighting pairs. Tomorrow would be the first day of fighting and gun shooting. I needed someone strong to beat Missy up. I only knew her for an hour, but she was already getting on my nerves. Uriah sat across from me telling jokes as usual, Shauna and Zeke were nowhere to be seen.

Before going to bed, Tobias and I talked about the initiates. "So. Find any one 'interested' in me yet?"
"In fact, I did. Missy."
"From Candor?"
"Yep."
"She seems really perky. And whiny."
"Exactly. I saw her eyeing you today after all the initiates jumped."
"Really? Didn't notice."
"Pretty annoying actually. Starting to really dislike her."
"Well we'll see. Goodnight Tris."
"Goodnight."
We got in bed and he kissed me on the forehead, sending shivers up my spine.
