Arthur lead me back into the castle. We stopped just outside some large, heavy looking, wooden doors. "Let me do the talking." Arthur said to me. I nodded nervously. He knocked on one of the door gently. "Come in." A deep-ish voice called from inside. Arthur opened the door and gestured for me to go in. Arthur stepped in behind me. "Father I have someone here who will interest you." My panic levels shot through the roof, this was the king. This was Uther Pendragon. Arthur glanced down at me and could see I felt really uneasy. The king turned around and spied me. "What is your name?" He asked, his voice echoed in the large room. "My name is..." I was cut off by Arthur. "Her name is Laura." The king looked at me then to Arthur.
"I think she can speak for herself Arthur." He said calmly. He looked at me and could see I was nervous. "Take a seat." He said gesturing toward a chair by a window. "Thank you sire." I bowed my head slightly. He smiled to me. "I believe you are morgana's new ladies maid." I nodded in reply. "What is your name?" He asked me again. "My name is Laura hawkwood." I said clearly. Uther smiled at me, I smiled politely back. "That's a very nice name for a very pretty girl." He complimented. "Thank you sire." I smiled. I looked over at Arthur who seemed to be blushing. What on earth was that about? I decided to think nothing of it he was probably nervous. For some reason I started to blush too. "Exactly why did you bring this young lady here Arthur?" The king questioned. The king seemed really nice. I couldn't help but feel
Comfortable around him. Arthur shuffled about before answering. "I witnessed her doing something extraordinary." He glanced over at me when he said this. "And what exactly was this extraordinary thing?" The king asked me. "A heavily built man had hold of me and I managed to fight him off on my own." I said shyly. The king looked impressed and came closer to me. "That's amazing for such a delicate looking creature." He smiled. "Thank you sire." I blushed and giggled a bit."Is that all?" Uther said to Arthur. Arthur nodded and gestured for me to go to him. "I was a pleasure meeting you Laura." Uther smiled to me. "Thank you sire, it was a pleasure to meet you too." I smiled back. "I'll walk you back." Arthur said. I smiled and nodded. "Wait a second Arthur I want to speak to you." Uther stopped Arthur before we got through the door. "Wait for me outside." Arthur smiled reassuringly. I did I was told and waited outside. About half an hour past. I was sat on the floor about to drift off to sleep when the one off the doors squeaked open and closed again. I looked up sleepily and saw Arthur standing above me smiling. "Come on you. It'll be too late to walk you back now and Gwen will be asleep you'll stay in the room next to mine." Arthur explained and smiled. He offered me his hands to help me up. Arthur's hands were so soft. He pulled me up and our eyes locked. I could get lost in those beautiful blue eyes of his. I totally forgot that I was holding his hands I quickly snapped out of it and removed my hands from his. He cleared his throat. "Follow me." He smiled. He lead me to my room with me following suit. He walked very fast. There were times where I was slightly jogging to keep up with him. "Arthur do you think you could slow down a bit please?" I asked. "Yes that's fine. Sorry I didn't think. You must be knackered." He said apologetically. "It fine." I smiled sleepily. "We are pretty close." Arthur smiled. We went around a corner and we were bang outside Arthur's room. "Now here's your room." Arthur opened the door for me and smiled. "Thank you Arthur, it's wonderful." I smiled back at him. I went inside and Arthur turned to shut the door. "Goodnight Arthur, see you in the morning." I called after him. "Goodnight Laura, see you in the morning." He said just before he shut the door. Once the door was shut I shimmed out of my dress, got in to bed and drifted off to sleep.
"Good morning miss." I was woken up by a familiar voice. I peeled my eyes open and saw merlin standing a few feet from the foot of the bed. "Morning merlin." I smiled. He smiled back at me his eyes glittered while he was smiling. "I am going to guess that Arthur sent you to wake me up?" I questioned playfully. Merlin nodded still smiling. "He also told me to get your bags from Gwens." He pointed to my bags on a table. I looked at merlin confused. "Why?" I questioned. "I'm really not sure myself Laura." Merlin lost his smile a little. "I'm sure we'll find out very soon." I laughed. "I'm sure we will too." Merlin laughed with me. Then there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?" Merlin called out. "Your boss." Arthur's voice replied. "I'm not decent." I yelled. "Well hurry up." He called back. I jumped out of bed, completely forgetting that merlin was in the room, I was just in my undergarments. I finally remembered merlin was in the room and quickly looked back at him. He was blushing but looking away. 'That's cute' I thought to myself. I grabbed a red dress out my bag and threw it on. God it must have shrunk since I last wore it. "Merlin could you help me?" I asked moving my hair out of the way. Merlin came up behind me and gingerly took the material to do my dress up. He pulled tightly and tied a bow. "Have you done this before Merlin?" I asked turning around. He blushed and shook his head. "Well you are very good at it." I smiled kindly. "Thank you." He was still blushing. "Answer me honestly, how do I look?" I asked him. "You look beautiful." Merlin looked down at his feet. "Thank you." I said placing my hand on his arm. "Can I come in now?" Arthur called out again. "Yes." I replied I ran my hands down my dress to make sure I looked presentable. I heard the door squeak open an looked up and smiled to Arthur. He smiled back. "You look beautiful." He smirked looking me up and down.
I blushed and looked down at my feet. "Thank you Arthur." I replied. My hair was starting to fall over my face. Arthur approached me and brushed my hair behind my ear. He then placed a finger under my chin and brought my face up to look at him. His beautiful blue eyes glittered I started to blush even more. Arthur smirked and removed his finger from my chin. Merlin cleared his throat to make his presence known. Both myself and Arthur snapped out of the moment. "Sorry merlin." I smiled at him. Merlin smiled back. "Arthur why did you move me here?" I asked. "It was my fathers idea." Arthur replied. I looked at him confused. "Don't ask he didn't even give me a reason." Arthur explained. "Merlin can you leave the room?" I asked politely. Merlin bowed his head and left the room. "Why did you asked him to leave?" Arthur asked quizzically. "I wanted to ask you a few questions." I answered. "Ask away." He said as he sat on the bed. "What did your father say to you last night?" I asked sitting down next to him. He looked deep into my eyes, almost apologetically. "He knows who you are." Arthur sighed. "What do you mean?" I asked raising one of my eyebrows. "He knows you are the daughter of a fallen king." Arthur looked sorry for me. "I'm sorry I didn't tell sooner." I said looking down at my hands. "It's fine, you wanted to keep it on the down low." Arthur put his hand on my arm. I looked up at him, he was so understanding. "Thank you for being understanding, it means a lot." I smiled weakly. "It's ok Laura." He smiled back at me. "I take it that's why I'm staying here?" I asked Arthur. He nodded in reply. "I won't see you any differently." He reassured me. "Thank you Arthur. You're so kind." I smiled. I started to get upset for thinking about my father, he was the one who sent me away. He didn't want me to be ashamed by him. A tear started to roll down my cheek. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you." Arthur panicked. "It's fine its not your fault." I cried some more. Arthur suddenly pulled me into a hug and without thinking I wrapped my arms around him. "It's okay I'll be here for you." Arthur whispered into my ear. "Thank you." I whispered.
