Chapter 48: Find Her At All Cost

                Back in the capital, everyone was facing Wang Feng's rage. His men had found Li Xia covered in dirty and bruises shortly after she escaped from the kidnappers' chase. In tears, Li Xia took Feng back to the forest where Wei Lan and she had been. Wang Feng burned the entire forest when Wei Lan was nowhere in sight.

Like a crazed beast, Wang Feng ordered his army to search the whole capital and the surrounding cities. Every single home did not escape the Wang's soldiers search. Still Fa Wei Lan was nowhere to be found. Only her shattered blue bracelet was found beside the river outside the capital. Wang Feng roar was heard throughout the capital. No one dared to come outside their shops when they heard the heavy sound of his boots. No one dared come out when they heard the sound of the Wang soldiers' armor.

The sky grew dark and heavy like the mood of their general.

After two days with no sign or words of Fa Wei Lan, Wang Feng heart was empty – completely void of emotion. There was no anger. His silence had been scarier than when he roared. In court, Wang Feng stood with vacant eyes – eyes of a bloodthirsty general. Everyone felt the suffocating tension that nearly forced them to their knees. Even the emperor felt restless at the sight of his general and ordered more soldiers to search the missing Wang Fei. The whole country – suddenly went into turmoil over the missing Wang Fei when a royal verdict calls to find her at all cost.

The crown prince was the only one that could deal with the general intense mood. Sitting before the general in a private restaurant, the prince did not say a single word. Instead, he continued to pour wine into his friend's cup. No matter how much he drinks, Wang Feng's mood did not change.

Suddenly, a servant from the Chen family came seek the crown prince and the general. The servant relayed a message from his young miss and master. Hearing that they were concern for Wang Feng, the prince allowed the sibling to join.

Chen Hua Lan and Chen Kang entered to see Wang Feng sitting at the window with a cup of wine in his hand. Chen Hua Lan heart trembled at the sight of the beautiful man with his dark eyes staring out at the dark empty street. She tried to speak comforting words to the general but was met with silence. Even when she tried to comfort him with music, Wang Feng showed no sign of interest.

"Wang Feng!"

Fa Min sudden burst into the room startled everyone but the emotionless Wang Feng.

"You bastard! Where is my mei-mei!"

Chen Hua Lan screamed when Fa Min grabbed Wang Feng and punched his face.

"Fa Min" The crown prince quickly grabbed the angry Fa Min away from the lifeless Wang Feng.

Chen Hua Lan went to Wang Feng side, touching his bruised cheek with tears in her eyes. Wang Feng was on the floor, not one bit affected by Fa Min anger.

"Fa Min, calm yourself" The prince held onto Fa Min's arm.

Fa Min never show anger or temper. He was normally cheerful and always has a friendly smile on his face. Now, his face was full of fury. Fa Min had been in Jing when he heard the royal edict to find the missing Wang Feng. Before anyone could stop him, Fa Min had ridden off to the capital – not stopping until he reached the capital city.

"Wei Lan" Min voice shook, letting everyone know that her disappearance affected him greatly. "If anything happens to Wei Lan, the Fa Family will not let this go! You bastard, is this how you take care of my mei-mei!"

Fa Min was like a rabid dog, rushing toward Wang Feng with murderous intent, but the prince held onto him. Chen Hua Lan used her body to shield the unresponsive Wang Feng. No one saw the conflicted expression in Chen Kang's face.

"Wang Feng!"

An unfamiliar voice called out from the streets.

"Wang Feng!"

The calm voice repeated loudly. Pulling the angry Min with him, the crown prince head toward the window and spotted below a figure sitting on a horse. The person's head and face was covered by a dark shawl, but the voice revealed it was a woman underneath the cover.

"Wang Feng!" She repeated for the third time. "Your phoenix, do you not want her?"

Only then did Wang Feng empty eyes flashed sharply. He shoved Chen Hua Lan off him. He shoved the prince and Min away from the window. His blazing eyes searched for the voice that mentioned his phoenix – his Fa Wei Lan.

"Where is my Lan?" His voice echoed loudly.

The woman looked up at Wang Feng and knewimmediately that he was Wei Lan's Feng.

"She's waiting for you. Come, I'll take you to her"

Without hesitation, Wang Feng jumped out the window - 2 stories down to the street. Chen Hua Lan rushed to the window and screamed after him. But Wang Feng was already sitting behind the woman on her horse. Chen Hua Lan cried at the sight of Wang Feng disappearing back.
