Chapter 15: Can't Let Go

When the tears dried out and my heart grew calmed, I stared blankly at the walls in my room. We were still in my bed. Feng was holding onto me with my back against his chest. My hair was loose, no longer in a braid. Both my wrist were bruised. After the entanglement, regret, guilt, and shame lingers in the air. Even though he hadn't penetrated my body, I have felt his everything. Wang Feng made it impossible for me to think of anyone else.

"Lan" Feng's arms were around my waist and shoulders. "I'm sorry..."

I knew Feng was feeling guilt. He hadn't wanted to treat me so roughly. He had wanted to love me gently. Our wedding had been only a few days away. Wang Feng had been patience because he wanted our wedding night to be special. I knew that he had been holding himself back for my virtue. But I had forced his hands. I had pushed him to the point where he lost control. I had made him lose control.

"Lan, don't ignore me like this... Tell me what I must do to ease your heart"

I was tired from all the screaming and crying. I didn't want to speak. I didn't want to move.

"I can't let you go... I will do anything you want as long as it's not letting you go"

He buried his head against my neck and place a soft kiss on my skin.

"Lan... I will kill anyone – destroy or conquer any country. I can give you anything you want." He continued. "Tell me Lan. Tell me what I must do so that you will stay with me forever."

Tears fall from my eyes and landed on the arm that held me.

"I can't let you go" He said as he tightened his hold on me. "I cannot set you free"

My heart hurts because I couldn't understand why I'm still fighting off his feelings. Why am I resisting my own feelings for him?

"Wei Lan wants to go to the festival..." I finally spoke while my eyes were still staring at wall. "Wei Lan wants to see the lanterns with Li Xia... Wei Lan promise Li Xia she would go with her..."

"Feng will take Lan wherever Lan wants to go..."
