she always had tried to forget her past.
"It's not- I mean- ," Eunhee sighed, trying to find a way to answer Sewoon's question about why she hadn't told Jimin.
"It's not that I don't trust Jimin." Eunhee jumped as she heard the front door slam. She stared at him with widened eyes.
"Stay here. I'll go check it out." Eunhee nodded at Sewoon, as she watched him leave her room.
After a couple minutes, Sewoon came back to her room, and said, "I'm not sure what that was. I don't see anyone here. I'll sleep on the couch tonight, just to be safe."
"Thanks, Sewoon. And about Jimin, of course, I trust him. It's just that I don't want to be a burden to him. He's done so much for me, and if I put something like that on him, especially if it involves one of his closest friends, then I feel like he would grow to hate me, you know?"
"Eunhee, don't say things like that. If Jimin really loved you, then he wouldn't think of you as a burden, ever."
"I guess," Eunhee sighed as she fell back on her bed. "I'll try and talk to him tomorrow. I miss him."
The next day, Eunhee was excited to walk to school with Jimin from the coffee shop, but today, it was just her and Tae.
"Do you know where Jimin is?"
"I'm actually not quite sure. He didn't say anything to me. I'm sure he had something going on," Taehyung reassured, as she nodded back.
As she and Tae walked into school, Eunhee saw Yoonji and Jimin laughing together, as he flashed his wide smile. That smile. It used to be for me.
She felt a pang of jealousy and sadness. Jimin made eye contact with her but looked away. She couldn't help but just stare at them. Tae looked at her from the side, and he took her arm and dragged her away from the scene.
"That's it. I'm going to punch him in the face."
Eunhee's eyes widened. "What Tae?"
"Eunhee, are you not mad? He's ignoring you for Yoonji."
She felt weird. She wasn't mad for some reason. Just sad. Somehow, she felt like all of this was her fault.
"I'm okay. I'm sure he has his reason," Eunhee lied, smiling through the pain.
As class started, Eunhee was looking forward to Communication Buddies Time. She would finally have a chance to talk to Jimin. She was hesitant about whether or not he would even talk to her, so Eunhee decided that she would say something first.
"Jimin, do you hate me now?" Eunhee asked, not being able to look at him, except for the occasional glances.
Jimin's hard glare softened, and he shook his head.
"Answer me this, Eunhee. Do you not trust me?"
"Of course I trust you, Jimin!" she answered immediately.
"Then, why did I hear you say that you didn't last night? Why won't you tell me what's wrong?"
"I-" Eunhee was lost for words. He must have misheard her say something. He was the one who slammed the door. A million thoughts were running through her mind. She knew she should tell him about Yoonji, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
"That's what I thought," Jimin responded as he put his head on his desk.
Eunhee felt tears forming in her eyes and tried her best to hold them back.
As class ended, she speed walked out of the classroom, as she felt herself hyperventilating. Eunhee bumped into someone and apologized, seeing that it was Jungkook.
"Noona, are you okay?" he asked concerned, holding her arm.
"Of course, Jungkook," she smiled, as she broke free.
She made it to the roof and fell to the floor. Eunhee lied there as she felt the cold concrete against her skin. Where had everything gone wrong? I miss him.
All of a sudden, she heard a squeak from the door and heard footsteps approaching her. She looked to the side and saw familiar shoes next to her. Eunhee sat up and saw Jungkook standing in front of her.
"What are you doing here?" he asked as he sat down.
"I don't know, to be honest. I just felt trapped and like I couldn't breathe. I wanted to get away."
"Seriously, Eunhee-noona, what's wrong?"
Eunhee explained the situation, including everything about her and Yoonji. It seemed like she could explain her feelings and troubles about Yoonji to everyone but Jimin.
Jungkook had a fierce look in his eyes, driven by rage. He began to get up, but Eunhee held on to his arm. "Where are you going?" she asked with confusion.
"To get Jimin-hyung away from that horrible girl."
"Jungkook-ah, I appreciate that, but to Jimin, that's one of his childhood friends. I couldn't do that to him. Don't worry, I'll tell him soon."
She felt him tense under him, but he sat back down. They say in silence, as they looked at the sky together.
"Look, I know that I don't know everything about you and Jimin. But, I do understand what you're feeling. Acting like everything's okay, when nothing is, just because that's how everyone's seen you. When I first came to this school, I used to be first in everything at my old school, whether it be music, academics, or sports, but I wanted to start fresh. Unfortunately, my rumors had traveled to this school, and people expected the best from me. It was so stressful; there was no one I could talk to about it. It wasn't until I met the rest of my hyungs that I learned to open up but doing that was really difficult. I had never had anyone and to have all of this support all of this support was overwhelming, but I'm grateful because they basically raised me," Jungkook chuckled. "All I'm saying is to try talk to Jimin-hyung. I know it's difficult, but I'll be here for me, in case he's stupid and stays Yoonji."
Eunhee smiled widely, grateful for a friend like Jungkook, and hugged him. For the rest of the lunch period, they ate on the rooftop, laughing.
Eunhee didn't see Jimin for the rest of the day, or Taehyung for that matter. I wonder where they are.
After she had eaten dinner and finished her homework, she was about to go to sleep, when she felt her phone vibrate. Eunhee stared at her screen, and she wondered what this was all about.
Meet me at the playground. ASAP. We'll be waiting.
