“You’re crazy. How have you started falling for me when you met me like three days ago? We barely know each other.” I asked. This is crazy, right? I mean love at first sight isn’t real is it?
“I’m crazy about you.” Matt responded smoothly.
“Real smooth.” I commented sarcastically, but I couldn’t help but give a slight smile.
“I mean it.” Matt told me, “I know I’ve only known you for three days but that doesn’t mean anything.”
“Um….Have you not seen Frozen? Anna wanted to marry the guy she just met, and then he tried to kill her and her sister…..so It actually means a lot.” I told him. Yes I just referenced Frozen.
“Us Toretto’s, we don’t do things at half speed, we go full speed ahead.” Matt responded chuckling, moving away from me a bit more, looking down. Great and now he thinks I’m rejecting him….I guess in a way I kind of am...But why? Why am I doing this? I actually do really like him...I know why.
“I’m sorry……” I told him as I could feel the tears coming back, god I hate myself.
“Don’t be. Just because I like you a lot doesn’t mean you have to like me back.” Matt responded with a small smile.
“I...I do like you Matt...Like really like you…..” I trailed off. How can I say that I’m scared to be in any sort of relationship? I can’t exactly say I don’t trust him, cause I do. But I mean if something is to good to be true, chances are it is...
“You’re not ready, that’s fine.” Matt replied, “We should go get that coffee.” I nodded and with that we left. We quickly grabbed some cheap ass coffee and went back to the others. When we got back to the waiting room, Nat was back inside sitting beside Alex. Matt gave Alex his coffee and I walked outside for fresh air. I can’t be in there right now...I just can’t deal with this right now. I need to go...I start walking. I don’t know where I’m going, I’m just letting my feet carry me anywhere. Why do I have to be like this?! Why can’t I just let something good happen to me, without question? My pace picks up. I walk past stores and couples who look happy, and even just groups of people who look like they are so carefree. I start running.
I need to get away from all of this! I need to just be by myself, away from people. I ruined something that could have been great..
“Just like everything else.” a tiny voice says in my head. Hello anxiety, my old friend. I stopped running and looked around. I was at the beach...Wow I ran 15.1 miles and good lord my ribs are killing me. I walked onto the sand and sat down, bringing my knees to my chest listened to the waves crashing and just started crying. I reach to grab my phone and realize it’s not with me. Great. Where could I have left...Its in Dom’s car…. I stuck it in the door...It’s still there, well I guess I won’t have to worry about anyone getting a hold of me and trying to get me back to the house.
“I can’t even call it home...Why?” I whisper to myself.
“Thought I would find you here.” Nat told me quietly as she sat down cross legged on on the sand next to me.
“How’d you know?” I asked her sadly.
“I didn’t not really.” Nat responded looking down at the sand, “I knew something was wrong, just not where you would go. When something's wrong or I just to think or need time by myself, I go to one of the beaches.”
“Oh.” I replied. Do I tell her everything that happened? Including the Jared thing? Or should I just avoid it?
“If you don’t want to talk or at least to me, you don’t have to. We can sit here in silence.” Nat told me, in quiet tone.
“Matt has apparently fallen in love with me….In three days….”I blurted out.
“Toretto’s are strange beings. It doesn’t matter to them if they have known you for years and have taking to much notice or if they just met you, if they like you, they like you. Take Mia and Brian, within three weeks they slept together and had Alex, not that Brian really knew because of the police drama.” Nat responded with a faint smile. “Do you like him back?” Once she saw my look of ‘how did you know?’, she asked, “Does the fact that you like him back make you scared?”
“Yes….But if you’re about to tell me the same thing I told you earlier you would be wrong...There’s other contributing factors.” I told her quietly
“I wasn’t going to. I was just going to tell you that no matter what you choose to do, if you choose to act on your feelings or if you choose to ignore them, I’ll support you and back you.” Nat responded as she turned and looked at me.
“Oh...Okay. I want to… I really do like him….But the last guy I had a crush on that showed interest in me…..Hurt me...I know he’s not that kind of guy but you know that saying if it’s too good to be true it probably is.” I told her looking down again, avoiding telling her the full truth about Jared.
“I understand that, lots of thing have happened for the both of us since we were both in that god awful town.” Nat replied quietly, then continued, “Did I ever tell you that I almost said no to Alex and ran as far away as I could because I was terrified that he would hurt me in some way?”
“But you didn’t. Why?” I asked her softly.
“I did leave.” Nat answered with a bitter laugh, “But a piece of news I found out after I left brought me back, only to tell him. But I ended up staying because whether I will admit this to him or not, I do need him in my life in some way.”
“I’m just too scared to be like, ‘yeah let’s be together even though I barely know you’ like that’s crazy.” I replied.
“Get to know him first. Getting to know the person and becoming friends first, actually kinda makes the future relationship better, and you will both already know a lot about each other, you’ll just be finding out what they like in a different way.” Nat advised.
“That is a good idea...I’ll keep that in mind...If I don’t go back home.” I told her while mumbling the last part.
“That town is not home. It’s a fucking hell hole.” Nat responded.
“Well it’s the only other place I can go, if it doesn’t work out for me here.” I replied with a sigh.
“No it is not.” Nat told me sternly, “There is a ton of different places in the world. You can go anywhere, and if you asked I would go with you.”
“I wouldn’t ask you too...Nat you belong here. I don’t. I’m literally just going to cause problems for all of you.” I responded.
“The only reason I’m still here in LA is because of what I had come back to tell Alex, I was literally just going to tell him and go back to where I had been.” Nat replied quietly.
“But why? You clearly belong here?” I asked.
“I guess it does seem like that. But I don’t know I guess I feel like I just really belong staying here with the main group.” Nat muttered playing with the sand, “My mind is a fucked up place to be.”
“My life is a fucked up place to be. And honestly there are days where I wish it would just end..” I told her.
“Those days suck.” Nat replied. “But I’m happy you’re here right now.” I lightly smiled at her. We sat there in comfortable silence before we both went back to the hospital.
*Timeskip*
Three months later. Matt and I have become really good friends. I have been working in the cafe which yes is now just a cafe thanks to me. I pointed out to Dom that people were literally only coming there now for the food and the drinks so we got rid of the grocery’s, put in more tables, added a few more things to the menu and BAM! New and improved Toretto’s Cafe. I was the main server there, but Matt was there most days as well after school, if he didn’t have anything to work on at the garage that is. During the time that I had been there and found out about Jared being there, I haven’t seen him since. Either Matt threatened him, or he fell off the face of the earth, either way I am happy. I also haven’t heard anything about Daddy, but by now I’m just kind of expecting that he had fought a good fight, but lost the battle.
Today was pretty slow. Matt’s not even here yet and I’m okay with it because there is like nobody here. I was leaning against the counter drawing when I heard someone walk in.
“Welcome...Oh it’s just you.” I said to Matt and went back to drawing.
“Ouch.” Matt said jokingly, putting his hand over his heart. Sadly he actually put his hand over the correct spot. “That hurt.”
I rolled my eyes at him, “Sorry but it’s been so slow today I was hoping you were an actual customer. I swear I just saw a tumbleweed rolling through the parking lot, like that’s how slow it been.” I told him while laughing.
Matt laughed, “Well sorry it’s just me, but I will take a turkey bacon sandwich. Please.”
“Do you ever try anything else?” I asked him sarcastically while I started making his sandwich.
“Any new baked goods?” Matt asked with a smile or was it a smirk.
“Well I did make some today since I had time and your dad said we are going to need to use the oven in the back eventually. I made beignets, if you want to try them.” I told him as I handed him his sandwich.
“Sure.” Matt responded with a smile as he took a bit of the sandwich. I pulled out a basket from the case of baked good, that had the beignets in them, took one out and stuck it on his plate beside his food. I stuck the rest back into the case, then went back to drawing.
“Let me know how they taste. I’ve never actually made them before.” I told him.
“Will do.” Matt responded before he continued eating.
“Don’t choke.” I told him sarcastically since he was practically inhaling his sandwich.
“What? I’m hungry.” Matt responded laughing as he put the sandwich down on the plate.
“Well slow down. I don’t want to have to perform CPR.” I told him while laughing.
“I won’t.” Matt replied and finished the sandwich. I rolled my eyes at him and laughed while I went back to drawing. I was just adding the finishing touches to a design for one of the many cars in the garage.
“That’s an awesome design, Em. And the beignets are good.” Matt told me.
“That’s good. And thanks, I’m just doodling. Since I have nothing else better to do.” I told him with a smile.
“If that’s just a doodle, I can’t wait to see a drawing.” Matt responded with a small laugh. I laughed and flipped my sketchbook opened to a drawing of a wolf and showed him.
“Damn.” Matt said letting out a small whistle. “That’s is beyond words, amazing doesn’t cover it.”
I laughed, “It’s not that good.” I told him shyly.
“Yes it is.” Matt told me with a big smile.
“If you say so. I think it could be way better, but I mean you are an artist so I guess you would know.” I replied with a small smile.
“It’s really good, you should give yourself more credit.” Matt responded still smiling.
“Well we both know I am incapable of doing that, but thank you.” I replied and still had a small smile.
“Your welcome.” Matt replied leaning over the counter a little. I smiled as I stayed standing where I was. Like I said yeah we have become really good friends, but those other feelings, well they’re still there...
“Wanna go get dinner with me sometime?” Matt asked looking unsure.
“When?” I asked without hesitation.
“Whenever you want. Tonight, tomorrow, two weeks from now.” Matt responded as he hid his emotions.
“Tonight.” I told him, again with absolutely no hesitation.
“Alright.” Matt responded with a blinding smile, “Where would you want to go?”
“You know, girls really like when guys have this stuff planned out. So you know the when, now you need to come up with the time and where.” I told him with a smirk and walked around the counter with a cloth and started wiping down tables.
“Alright.” Matt responded with a smirk of his own. I rolled my eyes at him. I finished cleaning off tables and walked back around the counter and sighed.
“That is like the third time today I have cleaned all of these tables just cause I had nothing else better to do.” I whined.
“I can think of a few things that you can do but if I said them you would probably hit me.” Matt told me still smirking.
I rolled my eyes and laughed a bit, “How are you so sure that I would hit you?” I can’t believe I am actually flirting with him.
“Cause if my Dad or Mia or anyone one of them showed up, we would more then likely get in trouble.” Matt responded.
I laughed, “Good point.”
“What would you get in trouble for?” Nat asked as she walked in looking tired.
We both started laughing then I replied, “Nothing, we’re just joking around. Trying to pass time.” I really hope she doesn’t start questing more. I mean like I’m pretty sure he was just indicating we would be making out….But you never know.
“Uh huh, sure. Whatever you say.” Nat responded as she sat down and laid her head on her arms.
“You hungry?” I asked her.
“No.” Nat responded shaking her head or at least that’s what I think she was trying to do.
“You okay?” I asked then.
“Tired.” Was Nat’s one word response.
“Did you not sleep?” I questioned, as I started drawing again.
“Couldn’t sleep.” Nat answered tiredly.
“Oh…” Was all I could think of to say. I don’t want to push the questions too much.
“Dom sent me here, cause I’m no use to him dead on my feet.” Nat told me quietly.
“Shouldn’t you just go home and try and sleep?” I asked. I mean sure we ain’t busy today, but what if we were, if she’s dead on her feet she wouldn’t be much help here either.
“If I sleep now, I won’t sleep tonight.” Nat replied with a yawn.
“Okay, well do you want coffee or something? Or you just gonna sit here with your head laying on the counter that I still need to re-wipe down.” I questioned.
“Maybe some coffee will help.” Nat responded as she lifted her head up and started to get off her seat.
“I’ll get it, just sit down and relax.” I told her. She sighed and sat back down and I got her coffee and brought it to her just how she likes it.
“Thanks.” Nat thanked me as she grabbed the cup and took a sip, sighing as she did. I nodded then went back to drawing. I honestly think this was the first time I had been so relaxed at work. Like holy shit who knew. Then I heard the bell ring. We all looked over and who I saw I was hoping I would never have to deal with after Matt told me he wouldn’t let him anywhere near me. Yup you guessed it, Jared.
“Hey cutie, remember me?” He asked trying to be flirty, but was just being creepy. God am I ever glad this counter is between us...
“First off, don’t call her cutie you fucking creep. And secondly get the fuck out, you’re not welcome here.” Nat snapped glaring at Jared, “I told you the next time you come here I will kick your ass, don’t test my patience.” Yes, if you haven’t figured out by that, everyone, including Nat, knows about what happened. And thank god they do, they’ve really been helping me get my strength back.
“Nat don’t. He’s not worth the tetanus shot.” I told her then turned to Jared, “You need to leave, right now.”
“Who said anything about me getting blood on me or in my system. I was thinking the lovely baseball bat behind the counter would look absolutely amazing smashing his face in…” Nat responded still glaring at Jared.
“Technically since the owner hasn’t said I can’t be here, I can. And it’s not like Emily has a restraining order on me or anything.” Jared told her.
Before Nat could say anything I cut her off, “Sadly he’s right. He can be here because Nobody who owns this place has told him otherwise, cause he only shows up when he know’s Dom isn’t going to be here and when he doesn’t see Matt.” I told her as I just realized Matt wasn’t in sight….Great he’s probably in the bathroom or in the back and I just didn’t see him get up.
“And it’s not like Emily can charge me with anything since we both know, I didn’t do anything wrong. That she wanted me, and just doesn’t want to admit it.” Jared said, making me clench my jaw in pure rage. Just then Matt walked right up to him, grabbed a hold of Jared’s collar of his shirt and slammed him up against the wall. Oh boy, this isn’t going to end well.
“You just said the wrong fucking thing.” Nat told Jared amused, then asked with a smirk, “Matt before he leaves, can I teach him a lesson he really needs to learn?”
“Guys please don’t….Just get him out of here, please.” I begged Matt. I really hate confrontation now a days...I don’t want to deal with it...
“Fine.” Nat said giving Matt a nod, “Let him go Matt, we will teach him a lesson another day.” Before Matt let him go he leaned closer to him and whispered something. I don’t know what he said, but whatever it was made Jared go as white as a bed sheet. Then Matt let him go, and Jared ran.
“If he comes back let me know.” Nat told me crossing her arms, “No one will find out it was me, that asshole has a lot of enemies.”
“He won’t be coming back.” Matt told us as he walked over to the counter.
“He better not.” Nat snapped then was muttering all the things she would do to Jared if he came back.
“He won’t. I’ll make sure of it.” Matt replied.
“You both need to chill. I know what he has done is wrong, and I don’t want him here either. But there is no use in you two being arrested for killing the guy. He ain’t worth it.” I told them both, my southern accent really sticking.
“Who said we would be caught?” Matt and Nat asked at the same time.
I shook my head slightly amused, “You two are ridiculous.” I told them as I walked off to the bathroom. I just needed to take a few deep breaths. I fully relaxed and walked out only to walk right into Matt’s chest as he wrapped his arms around me.
“You okay?” Matt asked concerned.
“I’m fine. I wasn’t even that worried, I knew you guys would get him out of here.” I told him softly, really just enjoying his embrace.
“When someone says they're fine, they really aren’t.” Matt responded.
“Okay, well let’s face it. Its me we’re talking about, so I will never be fully fine...But I will be okay eventually.” I told him softly.
“I’ll take that.” Matt replied, “If you need to talk you know I’m here.”
“I know...But I’m done talking about how that asshole fucked up my life. I just want to continue the track of making my life good again.” I told him, as I pulled back a bit, but only to the point of me still being in his arms.
“Alright. I didn’t just mean about talking about that douchebag, I meant about anything.” Matt responded.
“Anything? So you mean if I was on my period I could complain to you about my cramps, and cry because I’m not married to Channing Tatum?” I asked amused.
“If that would help you, I guess.” Matt answered with a tiny sigh.
I laughed, “I’m only buggin. I’ll save that for my girl talks with Nat.” I told him then asked with a smile, “So have you figured out where you’ll be taking me tonight?”
“I was thinking this nice little Italian restaurant.” Matt responded with a smile.
“Mmm, sounds good. And what time are we going?” I asked, moving my hands so they were sitting on his chest.
“How about when we get off here I drop you off at the house and then an hour after I drop you off?” Matt asked, answering the question with another question.
“Sounds perfect.” I replied with a nice smile. I could feel his heartbeat quicken which made me smile more.
“Alright.” Matt responded, “I would ask if I could kiss you but I’ll wait until you are really ready.”
“Ask me after our date. Your chances will be better.” I told him then I leaned up and pecked his cheek before getting out of his embrace and walking back to where Natalie still sat at the counter.
“Everything good back there? Or do I have to go clean up a mess?” Nat asked teasingly.
“Haha real funny.” I replied laughing a bit.
“I thought so.” Nat responded laughing a tiny bit. “So where is he taking you?”
“To a nice little Italian restaurant. He didn’t give me any names, but that’s okay. I don’t mind the surprise.” I told her with a smile.
“If it’s the one I’m thinking of, the food is absolutely amazing.” Nat replied with a smile as Matt walked over to us. I smiled even more. God I’m so excited. I honestly feel like nothing could ruin my day. Finally we were able to close shop.
We got back home and I dragged Nat with me upstairs. Once we were in her room I turned to her and said, “Okay I just realized I never packed anything I can where on a date, and I have an hour. Help!”
“Calm down. It’ll be okay. We’re about the same size, you can just use mine.” Nat told me laughing a little.
“Okay. You have a plain short black dress, right? I don’t want to over dress, but I still want to look nice.” I asked her.
“I have a few plain short black dresses now.” Nat laughed, “You can just go into the closet and pick whatever.” I nodded and walked into her closet and grabbed a strapless black lacy dress and stuck it on. I quickly did my makeup while she helped with my hair(thank god it was already curled). We were done fifteen minutes early.
“Okay. I look good, yeah?” I asked her.
“Yes. You look beautiful and if Matt’s jaw doesn’t drop he needs help.” Nat answered, complimenting me.
I smiled, “Okay… Um should I wear flats or heels?” I asked.
“Flats. Heels make things seem more fancy, while flats don’t. Beside if you wear heels, we both know you ain’t gonna make it through the night.” She told me with a chuckle.
“Hey! I have gotten way better at wearing heels thank you very much. But I do agree on the terminology.” I replied laughing a bit, “Follow up question, do you have flats I can wear?” I asked.
“Yes.” Nat laughed, “There on the floor of the closet, you’ll just have to look.” I laughed and nodded as I looked in her closet and found a pair that went well with the dress and stuck them on. I took one more look in the mirror then walked downstairs with Nat following. We got downstairs and Alex tapped Matts shoulder and pointed to where I was standing which was behind Matt. Matt took one look at me and his jaw dropped just like Nat said it would.
I giggled, “You may want to close your mouth darling, you’re catching flies.”
Matt closed his mouth then smiled, “You look absolutely gorgeous.”
I blushed, “Thank you.” I thanked. We both walked outside and he opened the passenger door of his car for me. I thanked him again then we drove to the little italian restaurant. Once we got there we walked in and were seated then ordered drinks and just started talking.
“What’s your favourite movie?” Matt asked me randomly.
“Hmmm that’s a hard one…. This is gonna sound lame, but I’m a huge nerd so who cares, Harry Potter and Lord of the rings….As well as anything from disney.” I told him honestly.
“Those are good movies. And it doesn’t sound lame.” Matt replied chuckling a little.
“What’s your favorite?” I asked with a small smile.
“The Avengers movies and Iron Man movies.” Matt answered with a smile as he grabbed his drink and took a sip before putting it back down.
“Yes! Those ones are also on my like top ten.” I told him, laughing a bit.
“Nice.” Matt replied then sheepishly continued, “I own all of them.”
“Seriously? Holy crap we gotta have a marathon one day.” I told him excitedly.
“Definitely.” Matt responded with a smile. The waitress came over and we ordered our food then she took the menus and walked off.
“How did you meet Natalie?” Matt asked.
“Well we were neighbours. And I think she dated my brother…. I really don’t remember. But yeah we were neighbors and we use to do volunteer work together.” I replied.
“She dated your brother.” Matt responded laughing.
“I think so.” I replied while laughing, “To tell you the truth most of my childhood is a blur.”
“If you brother has a few tattoos, she probably did.” Matt laughed.
I laughed, “No tattoos… So then it was probably just a hook up thing.” I replied.
Matt laughed, “Do you have any piercings or tattoos?”
“Well I only have my ears pierced and no tattoos. Mostly because I’m deathly afraid of needles...and Momma would have actually killed me. What about you? I mean I can already guess that you don’t have any piercings… Though I could be wrong.” I replied while laughing a bit.
“No piercings. I do have a tattoo though.” Matt responded with a smirk. “Maybe I’ll show if you’re lucky.” Matt winked flirtingly. I felt a slight blush and giggled a bit. We got our food and started eating and still having a bit of a conversation. When we were done we got the bill and Matt paid then we left. We decided to take a walk on the beach.
“This is very corny.” Matt pointed out as we walked along the shore holding hands.
I laughed, “Honestly I’m okay with that.”
“What’s your favourite time of day?” Matt asked changing the subject.
“Night time. How about you?” I asked
“Same. If you couldn’t tell.” Matt responded chuckling.
I laughed, “Good point.” I told him then I continued, “Can I ask you a personal question?”
“You can.” Matt replied nervously.
“Okay. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. But three months ago, the day that you woke up at quarter after eight, yes I remember the exact time. Anyways, you said it was the latest you have ever slept in...Why is that?” I asked softly while looking at him.
“Um…..” Matt gulped nervously, “I was uh… in an…… accident and I……. umm ended up in a coma….”
“Oh my god...Matt I’m sorry….Um...Again you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but how long were you in a coma for?” I asked hesitantly as we stopped walking and we were standing facing the water.
“Uh… Three months.” Matt answered looking anywhere but at me.
“Wow...I’m so sorry….I shouldn’t have asked….” I replied softly looking down at the water. God that would be so awful, I wouldn’t want to sleep again either, let alone get in a car again...
“Not your fault.” Matt mumbled kicking the sand. I took a glance at him then looked back at the water. “You didn’t know. It’s not something that any of us talk about.”
“Have you ever thought that maybe it is something you should talk about?” I asked softly.
“I did for a while, but I don’t handle talking to people I don’t trust very well.” Matt responded.
“I don’t mean with like a therapist. I mean with like your family. Or someone you are close with...Someone you do trust.” I replied, still looking at the water.
“I talked to Alex a little, mostly when he forced me to.” Matt whispered. I sighed softly. I need to get his mind off this...but how? Then I smiled to myself when I figured it out.
“Matt, you remember what you were going to ask me earlier, and I told you to ask me again after our date?” I asked, turning to face him.
“Yes.” Matt replied with a smile, a bit a small one but still a smile.
“Ask me.” I told him softly while I bit my lip.
“May I kiss you?” Matt asked me softly.
“Yes.” I told him and with that he leaned down, cupped my cheek and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and his hands went from my face down to my waist as he wrapped his arms around my waist, deepening the kiss. I pulled away from him a few minutes later because sadly oxygen is an necessity. I only pulled away enough so I was still in his arms and my arms were still around his neck, but was able to look at him
“Wow.” Matt mumbled still catching his breath. I smiled shyly and nodded, me being at a loss for words.
“Look not to suddenly ruin this moment, but I want you to know that you can always talk to me. I mean you listen to my issues all the time. And I care about you...So if you ever want to talk to me about anything, I’m always here.” I told him
“Alright.” Matt replied, “Do you want to stay here or go back to the house?” I thought about it for a moment, do I want to go back, or do I want to enjoy this a little longer.
“Well what would we be doing if we went back?” I asked.
“Whatever you want.” Matt responded flirtatiously.
I giggled and pecked his lips, “Well cuddling, watching movies and possibly making out sounds really good.” I told him softly.
“Alright. Cuddling and movies it is.” Matt responded as he turned us back in the direction the car was in. Once we got to the car and got in he took off. We got to the house, which was dead quiet.
“Either everyone is asleep already or they are out.” Matt said as we walked to the stairs, “I’m betting on them being out.”
“That’s fine. I don’t think I have ever heard this place s quiet before though.” I replied laughing as we got to the top of the stairs, “Um I’m gonna get changed in my comfy clothes quickly.”
“It’s rare.” Matt responded, “I’ll be in my room, come in when you’re ready to watch movies.” I nodded and walked into Nat’s room and grabbed my pajamas which were a tank top and shorts and quickly got changed, yes they are avengers one’s, cause like I said I am a nerd. Once I was changed, I had a quick argument with myself on whether I should wash my makeup off or not. I decided to in case I do fall asleep and I really don’t want to deal with the consequences. Honestly the only thing I left on is my angel wing necklace, which I am always wearing, it’s funny that nobody has asked why. I walked out and over to Matt’s room, since the door was open a crack I walked in.
“Nice pajamas.” Matt said with a smile.
I smiled shyly, “Thanks.” I said as I walked more into his room. Why am I suddenly shy?
“You can climb up onto the bed and pick a movie, I’m just going to grab a shirt.” Matt told me as he walked to his dresser. Oh….That’s why. He’s shirtless. I couldn’t help but stare at him, cause damn is he ever hot...Then I saw his tattoo on his shoulder blade, it was a tattoo of a dragon. I couldn’t even stop my next action as I moved closer to him and traced out the design.
“Like it?” Matt asked chuckling.
I realized what I was doing and dropped my hand, “Y-yeah.” I replied shyly.
“You can continue, I don’t mind.” Matt told me still chuckling, “Or do you want to see the other one?”
“Can I?” I asked softly. Matt nodded and turned to face me, on his chest there was a tattoo of a tribal cross with wings. “Wow..” I said just above a whisper as I lightly traced that one too.
“Like it?” Matt repeat, laughing slightly. I looked away from the tattoo, again dropping my hand to my side and nodded, feeling my face get red. “You’re cute when you blush.” He said as he brush his hand along my cheek. This only made me blush more, which made me look down so I could try and hide my face with my hair.
“Um… I’m j-just gonna find that m-movie n-now.” I stuttered out. God damn it, why am I so shy now? Ugh!
“Don’t look down, you're too beautiful for that.” Matt told me as he put his finger under my chin and tilted my head up. I felt my heart skip a beat as I bit my lip. Matt leaned down and kissed me gently. I smiled into the kiss then, wrapping my arms around his neck again, deepening the kiss. Before this very tiny makeout session could become an even bigger one Matt pulled away slowly.
“Let’s go pick a movie.” Matt suggested sounding like he wanted to continue kissing but knew we shouldn’t. I nodded and let go of him and walked over to his bed and grabbed the movies. I held up Iron Man, making Matt chuckle as he grabbed it and stuck it in the DVD player then walked back, flopped down beside me, wrapping his arms around me. About half way through the movie I could feel myself falling asleep, but I was fighting it.
“Go to sleep Em, you don’t have to move if you don’t want to.” Matt whispered. I nodded tiredly before passing out, with my head on his chest listening to his heartbeat.
I woke up slowly the next morning and the first thing I noticed was Matt was still sleeping. I propped myself up a bit, and looked around and saw his tv was still on, showing the main menu to Iron Man. Then I looked at the walls, I can’t believe I didn’t notice them last night...actually I can believe it. Anyways I saw that a lot of his artwork was on his walls.
“Wow…” I whispered to myself.
“Morning.” Matt said sleepily with a small smile.
I looked back down at him and smiled, “Morning.”
“How long have you been awake?” Matt asked quietly.
“Not very long. Actually like two minutes.” I replied softly.
“Alright.” Matt mutter as he pulled me to lay down completely and to him. I smiled and snuggled into him, though I knew I wasn’t going to fall back to sleep, I just enjoyed laying here in his arms. Well I was until my stomach growled.
“Hungry?” Matt asked chuckling a little.
“Apparently...But I don’t want to get up.” I whined.
“You can stay here, I’ll go make food and bring it up.” Matt responded as he sat us up a little and started moving me to lay back down on the bed. I pouted at the sudden loss of physical contact. Which is funny since I was never much for physical contact. “I’ll be back soon.” Matt leaned down a gave me a quick little kiss, then pulled away looking like he might’ve done the wrong thing.
I tilted my head in confusion, “What?” I asked softly.
“I don’t want to push you or make you uncomfortable.” Matt answered. There it is. The other reason why I don’t tell people about what happened to me...They become scared that I am going to panic and run the other way if someone gets close to me…
I sighed, “Matt I’m not gonna have a mental breakdown if you kiss me.”
“I know but when I kiss you I don’t want to stop.” Matt responded rubbing the back of his neck.
This made my heart skip and I smiled, “Then don’t stop unless I tell you too.” As I sat up on my knees and wrapped my arms around his neck. Matt leaned down and kiss me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I kissed back, deepening the kiss. I felt his arms tighten around my body pulling me closer to him, if that were even physically possible. This went on for a while, when we would pull away for air, he started kissing my neck, which of course made me moan, though I tried to hide it. He moved back to my lips.
“Hey Matt, time to-holy shit!” Alex interrupted us, this made me jump because he scared the living hell out of me I felt my face go red as I hid my face in Matt’s chest. “Sorry dude, I thought you were still asleep. I’ll leave you two be.” Alex said quickly and backed out of the room, shutting the door behind him. I kept my head where it was.
“Well….That was….” I trailed off. If I say that it was awkward, would he take it that I meant the making out as well as Alex barging in on us? ‘Probably. He doesn’t even like you.’ Ugh! Shut up anxiety…..
“Annoying, rude, awkward, frustrating.” Matt listed with a sigh. “I guess it was to be expected, I wasn’t already downstairs like I usually am.”
I laughed a bit, “You mean if I had just let you go downstairs and make me breakfast, we would never have gotten interrupted?”
“Probably. If Alex sees I’m awake, Alex knocks. If he doesn’t, he barges in.” Matt replied with a chuckle. ‘Wow, he really isn’t going to like you now.’ Damn it anxiety go away.
“Oh..” Was all I could say since I was dealing with my internal conflict. ‘Just like the other guys he is only after your body.’
“Whatever is going on in that head of yours isn’t true.” Matt told me gently. “Maybe we shouldn’t have gone that far yet.”
“No! It’s not that….I swear….” I told him instantly, though I guess in a way it was about all that. God why am I so anxious all of the sudden. I was fine.. I wanted all of that to happen, so why am I so anxious.
“What’s going on in that head of yours then?” Matt asked softly. I looked up at him for a second, then I looked down at my legs, letting go of him and lowering myself back down onto his bed not saying anything. “Em, you’re scaring me, what’s wrong? Did I go too far? Was it Alex?”
“No, you didn’t go too far. If you did I would have said something I promise. I don’t think it was Alex. I don’t know okay….Remember you are the first guy I have dated since...what happened…. I get anxious okay…..I’m more scared that you are gonna end things with me because of how anxious I get, then anything else.” I admitted as I continued to look down.
“That’s not going to happen. If anyones going to be the one to end things it’s you, because I don’t plan on letting you go. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know, okay?” Matt told me gently.
“I’m sorry…..You’re just the first guy who has wanted me for me, not just for my body….And I guess, and please don’t hate me for saying this, but I guess I’m still just having troubles wrapping my head around that.” I told him softly.
“Why would I hate you for saying that? I hate the guys who have made you feel like it’s just your body that anyone would want. That’s not the case here, I want you for you.” Matt responded strongly. I nodded, not knowing what to say. I continued to look down, feeling ashamed of myself...
“Don’t be ashamed. There is nothing to be ashamed of. I know there is certain things you are uncomfortable or not ready for. You have nothing to be ashamed of.” Matt told me gently but sternly, as he climbed on to the bed beside me and pulled me into his arms.
I sighed as I snuggled into him, “Still to this day I wish I never went to that party….But then I remind myself that sure if I never went to that party everything that happened wouldn’t have, but then I wouldn’t be here right now…”
“I’m sure you would have come to LA eventually. Nat wouldn’t have you not come, She was wanting you here since she came here. We had to remind her that you had school and that she could kidnap you for college.” Matt responded with a bit of a chuckle.
“Sounds about right.” I replied with a bit of a laugh.
“We should go get food, before your stomach starts eating itself. Do you still want me you bring you food up here?” Matt stated while laughing.
“No, I’ll get off my ass now.” I told him amusingly.
“Alright.” Matt replied and gave me a quick little kiss before he got off the bed and held his hand out for me to grab. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up, then we walked downstairs holding hands. We walked into the kitchen and saw both Alex and Nat talking.
“Hey. Have a good sleep?” Nat greeted once she saw us. “Sorry about this stupid asshole.” She said pointing at Alex.
“Its whatever…” I replied hoping my face wasn’t going red.
“No it’s not. Alex tell them you’re sorry.” Nat ordered making it seem like Alex was a little kid.
“Sorry.” Alex apologised half heartedly.
I fidgeted awkwardly, “Let’s just stop talking about the awkwardness of that...Please.” I replied with a bit of a laugh.
“Alright. I made waffles, there in the oven.” Nat replied laughing as Alex grabbed her around the waist and tickled her.
“Sounds good.” I replied. I was about to turn around to grab a plate when Matt handed me one. I thanked him and grabbed some waffles then went and sat down at the table.
“What are your guys plans for the day? Dom’s giving us the day off, which is really surprising.” Nat questioned still laughing a little. I looked at Matt then looked back at her and shrugged I was about to respond when my phone went off. I looked at it and saw it was an unknown number.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Emmy, it’s me.” The person said.
“Daddy?” I asked in shock, causing everyone to look at me.
“Yes, babygirl it’s me.” Daddy answered.
“H-how are you calling me?? W-where are you?” I asked as I felt tears coming to my eyes...It’s been a year.
“I need help, Angel.” Daddy told me quietly.
“Help? Why do you need help? Whose help Daddy?” I asked, my brain now going a hundred miles an hour.
“Your help. I can’t say much over the phone, I’m coming to see you.” Daddy answered vaguely.
“My help? Do you even know where I am?” I questioned.
“Yes your help. I know where you are, I’ll be there soon.” Daddy responded hurriedly, then hung up the phone. I hung my phone up, stood up from the table and walked upstairs in shock...Daddy’s alive...He needs help...Does Momma know he’s alive. Why would he possibly need help? And at that my help? So many questions running through my head. I got to the top of the stairs and walked into Nat’s room, leaving the door open I went and sat down on the bed. I could feel tears streaming down my face. The question was, are they happy tears, or worried tears?
Nat walked in and shut the door and walked over to me, pulling me into a hug, “You okay? What did he call you about?”
“He said he needed help.” I told her.
“With what?” Nat questioned, curiously as she rubbed my back.
“I don’t know. He told me he couldn’t say anything on the phone. He’s coming here.” I told her.
“Do you want me to be here when he gets here?” Nat asked softly.
“I don’t know…” I replied.
“If you want me here, I will be here. I don’t think I’m going anywhere today.” Nat responded.
“Okay. I just don’t know if he wants to tell me alone or not.” I responded.
“Well, I have nothing to do today, so he’s just gonna have to suck it up.” Nat replied rolling her eyes. I laughed a bit and got up, walked over to my suitcase and pulled out some clothes and got changed, then I wiped my face. I put some makeup on then turned to Nat and when we established I was okay we walked back downstairs, and I walked outside and sat down on the porch.
“You okay?” Matt asked as he came and sat beside me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.
“I should be happy, but I’m terrified.” I told him quietly.
“What has you terrified?” Matt asked concernedly as he pulled me closer to his side.
“He said he needs help, my help…..I don’t know with what, or why…” I replied, laying my head on his chest.
“Whatever he needs your help with, I will help you.” Matt declared.
“He’s coming here…. I don’t know how he knows I’m here. And thank you.” I replied, as I looked out at the road.
“Your brother maybe. You did tell your brother to tell your dad where you were when your dad came home.” Matt suggested as he moved his arm so he could rub my side.
“I know I did, but I don’t even know if he went home. The way he sounded, he sounded like he never went home…And if he was at home, it wouldn’t have been an unknown number that would have called my phone.” I replied.
“We’ll find out how he found you.” Matt responded, “Whatever he needs help with must be important.”
“But why does he need my help? That’s the part I don’t understand. Daddy would never drag his family into something that could possibly put them in danger….So why me?” I questioned as I turned and looked at him.
“Maybe he needs someone he can trust fully, for something.” Matt suggested quietly.
“Maybe….” I replied sounding unsure looking away from him again.
“Do you want to go back inside and eat something or do you want me to bring something out here for you?” Matt asked changing the subject for me. Though it was sweet of him to change the subject, my brain wasn’t gonna make it that easy.
“I don’t have an appetite anymore.” I replied softly.
“Alright, you can eat later then.” Matt responded tightening his grip on me. I nodded sadly, bringing my legs up and hugging them to my chest.
“On my twelfth birthday, Daddy got me this.” I told Matt, while grabbing my angel wing necklace, “It originally had two wings on it.” I added.
“What happened to the other wing?” Matt asked curiously as he looked at the necklace.
“I gave it to him...the day after my birthday I found out he was being deployed again in two weeks. I was so mad. But instead of screaming at him I did something better, that would put my mind at ease when he was gone. I bought another silver chain and took the other half of my necklace and stuck it on. The morning he was leaving I gave it to him, told him that since I’m apparently his guardian angel, he needed to have that half of the necklace cause it would keep him extra safe.” I explained.
“He’s coming back to his little angel for help.” Matt responded.
This made me smile a bit, “Yeah I guess you could say that. Everytime he came home, he would give me back the necklace so that all my good energy would seep into it.”
“And it has helped so far, it seems.” Matt replied with a tiny smile.
“I guess so…” I replied with a small smile as I glanced at him. I leaned over and pecked his lips. Then we sat there in silence. I can’t believe Daddy’s coming home, and needs my help.---------------------------------------------------------
Hey everyone!!
So this is a story I was working on because I had writers block with my other fast and furious story. This story will be a total of nine chapters, however they are long chapters, like this one is 8398 words! Which is crazy for me. Anyways all the chapters are completed but I want to see what people think of the first 3 before I add the others.
Thanks for reading!!
