I heard giggles coming from my dad's room. Sighing and rolling over in my bed, I put the pillow on top of my head, desperately trying to block out the slight moans that rang through the house. I peeked my head up from the pillow, needing to breathe. I glared at the wooden door that was shut closed tightly and locked.
Of course my dad would get drunk and bring home a random girl at 2 am, on a school night too.
I need to get out of here, I thought to myself.
And with that thought in my mind I quietly yet quickly slipped out of my bedroom and down the stairs. Stepping outside into my front yard, I sighed in relief, my ears not hearing the despicable noises that came out of their mouths.
I walked on the side walk, going the opposite way of Landon's house. I didn't know where I was walking to, I didn't have a plan on where to go. I just needed to go somewhere, anywhere but my house. An idea flashed through my head. A couple days after Rixon and I met, we finally exchanged numbers.
Taking my phone out of my sweatshirt pocket, I went to Rixon's contact and called him. As it rung, I started to feel bad as it was 2:30.
"Hello," a groggy yet raspy voice answered the phone. It sounded kinda.. hot. I blushed at my own thoughts.
"Rixon, hey.. did I just wake you?" I asked, guilt prancing around in my mind.
"Uh, no, well yes. But it's fine, what's wrong?" He asked, I could hear the concern in his voice.
"Um.. well you see, my house isn't exactly a place I want to be right now.. and I know you probably don't wanna go out at this time of night. I know this is going to sound stupid since it's so late but is it ok if I come over for a bit? It's ok if you don't want me to, I completely under-"
"Lila it's fine, you're welcome anytime, even at almost 3 in the morning." Rixon spoke through the phone, cutting me off.
I bit my lip, a bad habit I have when I feel nervous. I've never been so grateful for someone.
"Thank you.. I'll be over in ten."
"Ok, see you soon, actually.. do you want me to pick you up?" He questioned.
"No, no. It's fine Rixon, you letting me come over is enough, thank you though," I confirmed.
"Alright.. see ya in couple."
"See ya then."
A smile broke out onto my face as I started walking to Rixons house. I've walked with him to his house when he didn't drive to school one day so I know where it is. I haven't gone into his house, just walked him there. It wasn't too far from my house, so walking was fine with me.
About 15 minutes later, I arrived at Rixon's front door. Not wanting to wake up his parents by ringing the doorbell or knocking, I texted him that I was here.
The front door opened up, revealing a very tired looking Rixon. He rubbed his eyes a little, then gestured for me to come inside. I stepped inside of the white tile floor.
"Hey," he said smiling lightly.
"Hi," I replied. Even though this exchange may seem awkward, for us it wasn't.
"You want anything? Milk, water?" Rixon offered politely.
"Hmm ya know, this whole day I actually have been craving some milk and warm freshly baked cookies," I said sarcastically while smiling up at him due to the height difference. Damn him and being so tall.
"Well, usually I wouldn't mind baking, but considering we have no cookie dough, you're out of luck." He chuckled.
"Ah damn, I was really looking forward to those cookies." I said while snapping my fingers, feigning disappointment.
