Dear Stiles,

I can't tell you where I am but I can tell you that I'm ok. We have been exported over yet another sea that I can't remember the name of. The conditions here and better that before. The villagers actually accept our stay. The sun is always up yet it rains a lot and the forest is lush. We haven't had to settle many disputes but I know something big will come. It always does. But not to worry, I'm doing fine.

I cannot possibly express how much I miss you on a sheet of paper or how I love you so much my heart aches from being so far away. I can only hope you are doing well and still thinking of me. I long for the day I can come back to you but I know I have a purpose to fulfill first. I hope your dads doing better and out of the hospital by now and that your mom isn't having to worry about him too much.

Tell everyone I'm thinking of them, especially Roxy, and missing them every chance I get. But most importantly, know that I love you and that it is you that is always on my mind.

Yours Truest,

Derek

I got up and folded the letter in half before taping it an envelope. I dropped it in the mail box after writing the address on the cover.

"Hale!" I heard my captain yell at me. "Get over here."

I jogged my way to his tent and came to a stop before the entrance. I enter the tent to find three of the other guys all huddled around the table in the middle.

"What's going on?" I asked curiously.

"There's something going down tonight," replied my army commander.

I ran excitedly to the mail box once I got home. I was expecting Derek's letter today and couldn't wait to read it. I always felt like I had a piece of him with me when I read his letter so I was excited to see the Manila colored envelope. It was issued to Stiles Stilinski and showed my address below my name.

I went back inside and sat down on my couch ripping open the letter. As I read the words I felt tears gather in my eyes. Roxy jump on the couch beside me and pet her on the head as I remember back to when we got her.

"Come on Derek! We need a dog to complete everything."

"No we don't," Derek argued. "We just bought a house together and we don't need a dog to run around and get it all dirty."

He had caved after seeing Roxy at the shelter. She had been abandon but nobody could tell. She was all happiness, wagging her tail and giving Derek and I big helpless eyes. We brought her home the next day and she pranced into the house like she owned the place. Roxy had always been more attracted to Derek, but she was the only thing holding me together when he left. I felt like she was a part of him and never would have been able to make it through if we wouldn't have gotten her.

I refolded the letter after I was finished reading it and just sat and pet Roxy for a few minutes. I missed Derek more the I could comprehend and couldn't wait for February to come. I grabbed a piece of notebook paper and started to write.

Dear Derek,

I'm doing good but missing you lots. I think of you every day and know Roxy does too. She misses her master almost as much as I do.

My dads better and out of the hospital but my mom still carries on about him being more careful on the stairs. Life is doing me well and I got promoted to manager at work. Cecelia says she doesn't know how the gaming industry ever made it before me.

Seeing that it's now December I have no clue if this letter will make it to you in time, but of it does, know that I'm looking forward to seeing you in February. I love you, and hope you never forget.

Love,

Stiles
