BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEE--
Kennedy groaned as she hit "stop" on her phone to cease the alarm she'd set the night before. 9:55 AM. Not nearly enough time to get ready and eat breakfast before heading next door to what she assumed would be the worst day of her summer. She'd wanted to be as annoying as possible to Carter, considering he'd demanded her to be at his house at 10.
Slowly, she trudged out of bed and over to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, she decided to run a comb through her hair to work out the tangled knots that had formed in her sleep.
She checked the time on her phone as she opened her dresser, 10:01. She smirked as she pulled out a floral yellow bikini, a loose white tee, and jean shorts. She walked back into her bathroom to change, not wanting to put on a show for any spectators on the beach. Just as she clipped her bikini top on, the door to her room burst open and Carter walked in.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Kennedy shouted at him as he took in her state of dress and his scowl turned into a smirk. She pulled on her shirt and glared at him while his eyes unashamedly lingered on her stomach and chest.
"It's past ten. You're late. Though, if you wanna surprise me with another strip tease, I wouldn't mind," Carter responded infuriatingly.
"Get the hell out of my room," Kennedy growled back, shoving him toward the door.
"Okay, okay. I'm giving you five more minutes before I come in again, though," he warned as he strutted out of her room, closing the door behind him with a wink. Kennedy made sure to lock it this time before finishing to change into her outfit for the day.
Why the hell had she agreed to spend the day with him?
"Finally," Carter groaned when Kennedy walked into the kitchen.
"It's been four minutes," Kennedy responded in monotone as she reached into the pantry to grab granola for breakfast.
