"It's raining." Micheal states, as if it's not already obvious.

"I know." I reply, suppressing the urge to roll my eyes. He could be a total dumbass sometimes.

"Dude. I broke up with Nicole." His voice is so quiet, I almost don't hear it.

This makes me stop in my tracks. Turning to him, I instantly feel guilty. No wonder he's been so slow lately!

"I'm so sorry. I didn't know." I pat his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. I am not good at this.

"She was driving me nuts. But now...I kind of regret it." He looks like he might actually cry. No way is my best friend about to cry over some dumb chick.

"Remember how she flirted with that guy at the club only because the waitress smiled at you? And how she always bossed you around? Trust me, you're better off without her." He looks somewhat convinced.

Standing up straighter, he nods.

"You're right. She was annoying. Well, I'll see you later." And with that, he starts walking away.

He'll probably cry in his car. Or when he gets home. He's probably only acting tough for my benefit.

Why is everything so much worse when it's raining?

Sighing, I start walking towards the bus station.

And while I walked, all I could think about was how much I despised rain.
