Ty's P.O.V.
The door was opened. The bright lights stung my eyes, not terribly, just bad enough for me to wince. Avery still wasn't awake, which kind of scared me, but I bet she would wake up soon.
"Wh-what... is this place?" Alex whispered as we began to walk outside.
"Tell me w-what it's like...." Elaine said as she randomly stayed inside while Alex and I slowly walked outside, I looked up into the sky, and I have no idea how it was so bright if there was literally no sun!
"Elaine, come outside, it's fine." I replied to her as me and Alex adjusted to the setting, I mean...it wasn't too weird, but it was definitely different from what you would
see on Earth. There were plenty of trees around, but they weren't just green, they were several different colors ranging from blue to purple to orange. The temperature was pretty nice, and there was a calm breeze going on. There was also a small fountain of Golden Liquid in the center of the clearing, it seemed so tranquil and peaceful...but...maybe it was almost too much.
"Where do you think we are?" Alex asked as he looked around, "Are we on a different planet?" He finished his sentence and went back to studying the environment, until I heard a noise, and Alex groaning loudly in pain. Elaine and I looked over at him, to see some middle aged man kicking him in the gut.
"Who the fuck are you?!" I yelled at him, but he didn't seem to mind much, and kept of beating up Alex. His skin was very pale, and he had a long mustache that kind of seemed
like too much, he had pretty large wrinkles too, since I could see them from all the way over there. I swiveled my head to see Elaine putting her hands on her head.
"Get away from him!" She screamed, and in more detail, her eyes lit up Orange and the bright flashes went straight for Alex and the old guy. But at the last moment he skillfully dodged out of the way, making Alex the only one to receive the Flash.
"Oh god! My eyes! It's like flash bang! Dear Christ!" He screamed, practically grabbing his eyes with his hands. Which kind of gave me deja vu from when we first got our powers, and while I was reconciling on the past, the old man went up to Elaine and basically swept her off her feet, having her fall on her back.
"OW!" She yelled at him... but all of our efforts were pretty useless, so I stayed put and didn't try to do anything. The old man walked up in the front of us three and wiped some dust off of his suit that he was wearing.
"So you three were seriously chosen to be given three of the twelve of the Shadow Lords powers?" He asked almost annoyed at us... for no reason!
"First off... Shadow Lords? We were told we were given the powers of the gods?" I questioned doing a hand motion, "Secondly, why are you beating us up?!"
"Power of the gods? So that's how she explained it to you? Ha! Yeah no... it's a lot more complicated than that..." He walked a little bit closer to me, probably just so I could hear better but it still made me uncomfortable, "And I thought the 'Beating you up' part was pretty self-explanatory... I was testing to see what you could do.... which obviously isn't much." He smirked on that last part, making me scowl. Alex was seeming to get his vision back, thankfully, and Elaine got up from the fall, "But anyways... I'm here to train you... three? Wait... aren't there supposed to be.... wait.... where are the rest????" He put his hands in a V and rubbed his temples.
"Well... one is still in the... 'room'?" I answered, still slightly conflicted on who this strange man was. He walked over into the room and saw her, still sleeping. He looked suspicious of it, but he said nothing.
"So who the hell are you...?" Alex asked, clearly still hurting from the light Elaine made.
"Well, my name is Ch'andi....but since you're human you can just call me Chad." He declared with a stupid grin.
"There is no way in hell I am calling you Chad." Elaine responded, rolling her eyes and sitting down. There was a couple seconds of silence, but then I remembered a serious question I needed to ask.
"Okay 'Chad', I have a big question to ask..." He looked at me with a, "Hm", which was my time to say it, "Why were we kids... the ones chosen to be distributed the powers of the Shadow Lords? Like... was there anything important about us?" He glowered at me as if he had no way of answering that...but he sighed and looked at me.
"To be frank... I don't know why you twelve were chosen...I didn't really have much of a say in who or who didn't get the Shadow Lord Powder....that's up to the actual council...I'm just the one who has to harness the Powers so they can be distributed...."
Suddenly I felt a strong, almost burning sensation running on my back... It was as if there was a freshly lit camp fire behind me.
"So you were one of the ones... who did this to us." I froze.... she was awake. We all turned around to see Avery, standing menacingly, with a blue-ish aura surrounding her body, "You're one of the ones... who did this to me!" She yelled, and what seemed like an unprovoked attack, she rushed at him. Her fists ignited with a burning blaze around her wrist, and started desperately to connect a hit with "Chad."
"You are the fucker to blame!" She screamed as she finally punched him in the chest, pushing him back. I stood back.... sure Avery was a hot head... but I've never seen her even cuss before! Then again I've only known her for like two days.
"Madam, if you could please stop and actually listen..." He warned her, stretching out his hands. She said nothing, but screamed again, but this time, not only was the noise terrifying, out of her mouth came waves of hot red, orange, and yellow flames! Putting both of his hands in front of him, Ch'andi created a shield. Not exactly just blocking the flames... but it seemed like he was absorbing them? Alex was looking at her, eyes wide. Elaine was terrified, but still didn't know who Avery was, and I could only watch. But Avery looked far from backing down, in fact, she actually looked even angrier than from before.
She inhaled a quick yet filling breath of air, and began bursting flames out of her mouth again. I knew it was bad when her flames were not a deep blue color instead of the previous mixture of warm colors. "Chad" even seemed a tiny bit.... impressed? Scared? I couldn't really tell what emotion he was going through, but it was clear that he was having struggles to keep up his shield.
"That is enough!" He shouted, and the fire from Avery ceased to keep of coming. Avery's breaths were slow and deep... but when she least expected it, he threw two large rings at her. Going around her waist and chest, restraining her from moving. She looked at him, as if he just murdered her entire family while she watched...
God...
What happened to her on Earth?
