He , Jesus the only son of God died on that cross for you and I ,in his mind he thought of every one and because of the love he has for you ;he didn't want you to die in your sin.
That's why he took all your infirmities pain and shame on that cross and faced the judgement of God in your place.
All you have got to do is to repent :meaning turn away from your old way of living style and accept the free gift that God alone can give you through his only begotten son who died and rose again.
To live a good life ,having a good values as a human being is what will bring peace in our soul and enable us to live a happy life.
