Cleo

"Try this!" Cleo shoved her straw into Kai's mouth with little warning and a smile on her face. "Isn't it the best thing you've ever tasted?"

After sending her a playful glare Kai began to drink the contents of the white-colored cup. Cleo watched him with excitement amongst the many other students bustling around the café.

Cleo enjoyed the food they had on land; back home nothing tasted nearly as wonderful as this. It's only been half a day and Cleo's in love with her new life on the surface. Any worry she had prior was completely washed away as soon as she stepped foot on the college grounds.

She'll have to thank Uma whenever she and Kai return, Cleo thought. This experience surpassed her expectations and more. She finally had her freedom.

Of course, she wanted to continue her schooling as promised to her parents, but Cleo conveniently left out her true desire to travel to the surface. Freedom.

Having time in between their first class in the morning and their final class two hours later, Cleo begged Kai to walk around the small college.

After roaming the halls aimlessly, they stumbled upon a two-story food area. There are a dozen different food carts that lined the outer walls. In the middle, sat an array of couches and tables for students to study and eat. On the upper level were actual restaurants to choose from.

"What is this? It's not terrible," Kai tasted the thick contents in the cup while he walked alongside Cleo with a smirk. "With your questionable taste I'm surprised you found something good," Kai teased. Rolling her eyes, Cleo answered him, "C'est le jus de fruits de nectar." (It's nectar fruit juice)

Kai scoffed, "you know I was just messing with you, there's no need to speak in the one language I didn't learn."

When growing up together, Cleo and Kai took all the same classes. They both wanted to learn as many languages as possible so they could speak in code to one another. French was their final language, but Kai was constantly pulled away for extra training. Cleo never let him live it down and enjoys teasing him about it.

Cleo laughed and took another sip of her juice. A few students close to them looked up at her but she waved the glares away and left the cafe with Kai behind her. "Eh bien, j'aime parler comme ça. Ce n'est pas ma faute si je suis plus intelligent." (Well I enjoy talking like this. It's not my fault I'm smarter)

Cleo turned to look at Kai as she walked with a devious grin on her face. Kai, on the other hand, had a deep frown, "Non mi piaci." (I don't like you) He spoke with an Italian tongue instead while Cleo continued to drink from her cup.

"Alam mong mahal mo ako," (you know you love me) Cleo bat her eyes at Kai who couldn't help the grin that pushed its way onto his face. "Really? Filipino? I think this new setting is getting to your head," Kai poked Cleo's side earning the adorable giggle he loved so much. The students in the hallway gave them both weird looks clearly unaware of what language they were using.

All efforts to keep a low profile are thrown out the window.

"Le plus tôt vous admettez, mas mahusay ako kaysa sa iyo, meglio lo sarai," (the sooner you admit that I'm smarter than you the better off you'd be). Cleo heard Kai mumble 'show off' once she turned away from him. She used all three languages while speaking with Kai knowing it only bothered him more.

Serves him right for teasing me earlier, she thought.

"Hey, you two," a girl Cleo's height appeared out of nowhere preventing her and Kai from walking. "My name's Kaylee, you both are new right?" Kaylee had short red hair and deep green eyes, like a forest. She wore a black shirt and white shorts that showed off her tan skin much like Kai's.
