Cleo
"Kai we have to go back," Cleo and Kai were walking down the hall towards their next class. "What if we just skipped our last class and go now? Oh, I bet she's out there right now, waiting."
Cleo watched as a small smile grew on Kai's face before he uttered, "you're so cute when you beg like this." Scoffing quietly, Cleo shoved Kai and rolled her eyes as she heard him laugh aloud.
"Besides, we have to be normal here. We can't ditch any more classes or the humans may get suspicious. I bet humans don't skip class, we'll surely get caught if we do it again." Cleo huffed knowing Kai was probably right, but she couldn't help the feeling of longing.
Kai let her swim with her new friend all day yesterday, which was the most magical experience for her. They swam for miles and miles offshore, hunted for food, and rested in the stronger currents in the water column.
Cleo couldn't wait to go back.
Opening the large classroom door, Kai led Cleo up the stairs towards her seat. Even though he sits on the other side of the classroom, Cleo allowed him to walk with her until she sat down. Doing this made him feel better about the distance between their seats, so Cleo didn't protest.
This new environment has taken a toll on them both, however, Kai took it harder now that he's to protect her from dangers neither one of them have experienced before.
"Thanks, Kai," Cleo mumbled before Kai reluctantly left her side in order to find his desk at the other side of the room.
While she sat down in her chair, Bellamy had his gaze trained on his erasthai. Cleo could feel his overbearing stare the moment she and Kai stepped into the room. In a weird way, the feeling he gave her was both unsettling and calming.
Is he mad that I missed two days? I guess I left him to do all our work, I bet he's mad. Cleo thought to herself worried about the male next to her.
"Where the hell have you been?" Bellamy grits out not taking his eyes off her. Cleo could instantly feel her blood run cold; he's really mad.
As bad as she feels, Cleo's hands were tied. She and Kai had to return to the water for their body's sake, but at the same time she let her partner down on an important assignment.
"Bellamy, I'm sorry, I was feeling sick the other day," Cleo had a hard time maintaining eye contact with her partner. "If you want, I can do the next few assignments on my own to make it even. I'm sorry you had to do them by yourself."
Much to Cleo's dismay, Bellamy didn't say a word but instead remained quiet as he watched her with an angry expression.
"Hello class, to finish up our lecture on werewolves, a werewolf hunter has come in to speak to you all about his work. Once he's done, feel free to ask any questions you may have because starting next week we will begin our next topic on mermaids and mermen." The professor set down his things on the small deskup front before stepping aside for the tall man behind him.
Oh, we're in for a treat. I'm flattered we get to go next. Kai spoke over the link which made Cleo smile.
Humans have such bizarre beliefs when it comes to our kind, Cleo thought to herself. Who knows what the teacher will go over next week.
"Why are you smiling?" Bellamy grumbles with a serious look on his face. This time he actually called Cleo out on her strange behavior.
For the second time, Cleo felt her blood run cold as she struggled to find an explanation. "Smiling? I'm not smiling," Cleo closed her eyes in embarrassment as she looked down at her lap.
