Cleo

"Can we go over everything before we try leaving this cave?" Kai spoke clearly stressed while smoothing out his t-shirt feeling uncomfortable and nervous about the plan.

Kai couldn't wrap his head around their clothing situation. Uma had given them little white pearls that were expected to clothe them. Cleo remembered Uma saying something about breaking them so that's what they tried. Unlike Cleo, the purple smoke that enveloped the two freaked Kai out. What a tough guy, Cleo had joked with herself. When the smoke subsided clothes just their size appeared on their bodies.

The spray worked just the same. A little sprits on the arm and Cleo excitedly watched the cool liquid spread over her markings. Her long, wavy white hair was cloaked to look dark brown and rested right at her shoulders.

They both looked like normal humans.

"Kai this will work out, the only thing we should worry about is if the sea witch actually got us into this college place" When Cleo first mentioned her plans to Uma, the witch explained that humans had a strange way of teaching their youth. Humans couldn't simply go to college, the process was far more difficult and detailed. But, the sea witch was so determined to make Cleo's dream come true and had explained to them before they left not to worry about it.

"What if something happens like we accidentally get wet or we forget our names or.. wait our eyes. Cleo our eyes are going to give us away, Uma didn't pack anything for that!" Kai paced the room while a small smile grew on Cleo's face. She knows Kai is only worried about her safety, but everything was okay.

"Kai stop, listen to me." Cleo grabbed his hand pulling him over to her, "we'll be fine, okay? Uma has made sure we'll be in the same classes by my father's order, we've been trained to resist the water, and just because our eyes are bright blue doesn't mean anything. I'm sure there are many humans with bright colored eyes or else Uma would have given us something to hide them."

Kai looked down at their joined hands and let out a loud sigh before looking up at Cleo. Her eyes were one of the many things that he adored about Cleo. The captivating blue color drew anyone in even if she were a stranger. Matched with her light-toned skin and her beautiful hair and markings, she was someone he looked forward to seeing every day. She stood out amongst the other merpeople in the castle, she looks nothing like her parents or anyone he's ever had the pleasure of meeting. Of course, he could never tell her what he thought about her because it could jeopardize all they had and make things weird between them. Getting to be with her every day was more than enough for Kai, she was his rock during times like this just as he was hers.

"How are you so calm about all of this?" Her small smile grew a bit more as she squeezed his hands in encouragement. "I'm terrified Kai, but at the same time, I'm excited that I get to do this with you. That's how I know everything will turn out okay."

Kai pulled her in for a hug feeling a little better about what they were about to do. "I just want to make sure this is perfect for you and that you're safe." Cleo pulled away and punched his shoulder playfully, "well I can't wait to wipe the floor with you when I turn out to be smarter."

A smirk grew on Kai's lips followed by laughter that filled the cave's walls. "You only wish that was true princess," Cleo rolled her eyes hating the stupid title he only used to annoy her. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the hidden exit, it was time to start their new life.

Getting to the college was much harder than Cleo had imagined. There were guards and cameras everywhere watching every little thing going on around them. She remembers seeing tight security when she was on land last, but never to this degree. Kai and Cleo weren't exactly hiding now that they were disguised but the extra attention didn't help calm their nerves.
