(Your POV)
It has been months since Crona's lips touched yours. All of those feelings had set in way too fast. Though you have spent time with Crona with the rest of the kids, you haven't experienced some alone time in quite awhile.
It was obvious that the connection was still there.
But it seemed that something was off and you couldn't quite name it. Like everywhere you went something was following you. Maybe it was Death City, but it has been bothering you to finally ask someone about it. You were in the school library, and you knew just who to ask.
"H-hey Maka?"
The blonde looked up from her book and smiled at you.
"What's up (Y/N)?" she beamed. Her confidence in interactions with others is something you have desired since you got here, but you still remained the same shy individual. Her tone suddenly changed when she noticed the serious look on your face. "What's wrong?"
"Do you ever feel like maybe, just maybe, that something is watching you?" You were proud of yourself for not stuttering, but couldn't pride yourself too long due to your overwhelming curiosity.
"Not particularly, no. Sometimes Kid stares at me, but I think he's just trying to figure out of my ponytails are even with one another." She cracked a grin, in hopes to lighten the mood.
"Hmmm. O-okay. I thought I'd just ask. Thank you." A fake grin danced across your face as you nodded at the girl and walked away.
The cold wind chilled you skin as you exited the beloved school. You stared up at the big burning flames that kept the flames lit. Almost asking for the brightness of the element to protect you as you made your journey home.
Walking down the dark alleyway wasn't something you enjoyed anymore. But walking this way would get you home faster. More than anything you wanted to be home. The thought of Crona walking you home right now gave you enough comfort to proceed, but a tinge of sadness hit you as well. You closed your eyes just long enough to quickly embrace yourself before you sensed something right in front of you.
Your eyes shot open just as you saw a serpent staring right back at you.
It's just a snake? This is all you've been scared of?
No, it wasn't. Something much bigger was around.
The dark scene harbored something new. A loud booming cackle came from behind you. Peering at the moon you saw a woman sitting on a broom, a hood covering her head. The most you could make out was her large snake eyes staring at you. They pierced right through you, observing your soul, as she continued to laugh her sinister laugh.
You knew who she was, and that was the most terrifying part.
