CHAPTER 6

Lullaby…..The key for everything

We drove the whole night finding a place to hide out and stay. Stephan’s car was out of fuel at the same time and still we didn’t feel safe because we always felt like they were still following us. Then we came across a dark scary area which is similar to woodland. Stephan though it might be better for us to hide out and hide the car as well. Then we slowly parked the car behind some bushes hoping no one would find and covered it with more branches and leaves which were all dried and dead.

Stephan and I waked few miles into to the woods and we saw a small cottage still in good condition way better than the cottages and small houses on the road sides. I had a bad feeling about going near that place because I even could smell firewood burning from the chimney in the house. But Stephan had these weird plans that he refused to openly discuss with me. May be for my behavior lately or what so ever the reason is.

He has been doing exactly what he thought was right and all I have been doing is following him without any clue. But now I have to speak up and stop him because if there are people in the house and if they are also working for the magician (which is so obvious) we are so in trouble. Saving the kind is after all not such a good idea. I wouldn’t have take this mater into my hands and screwed up things at first place

“Stephan, I don’t think this is a good idea” I said holding his hand and pulling him back

“Oh… so your ideas are good?” he questioned

“C’mon in not saying that. Just look at the chimney… there is smoke coming out …. Don’t you have a brain to think that there must be someone inside?”

“You think I’m that stupid? Oh Adriana….” Then he took his hand that I was holding tight, away forcefully and kept moving forward to front door of the house

Stephan didn’t listen to me even if I warned him. I guess he doesn’t trust me anymore. But I still care for him and don’t want him to get hurt because of me.  He walked slowly towards the door of the small cottage and without any second thoughts she kicked the door open and it smashed down to the ground with a big noise which wasn’t for our advantage. I didn’t waner try to protect him anymore or get involved in his stupid planes because he wasn’t goner listen to me anyways.

So I thought of staying back in the woods just in case until he do all his “hero moves” inside and bring some good news than getting caught by some ex-elemental preserver slash bad wired person working for Mr. Black collogue to whom we are ‘WANTED DEAD”

Stephan walked into the cottage more than 10 minutes ago but still didn’t come out. Not a single sound came from the place which made me curious or desperate to go inside. The insects didn’t give me a break specially the mosquitoes. Suddenly I heard a big noise. Somewhat similar to a huge drawer of glasses smashed on to the floor. My heart beat stopped. What if Stephan is in trouble…? I can’t hide when he came to save me when I saw in trouble. I kind of owed him this time. Even though he was so independently making his own decisions thinking he is doing the right thing, now I have to go inside and help him so I slowly walked in. I have nothing for my defense except some water works that I can do…yet with not a drop of water around here that caught my vision, I don’t think my powers will be of advantageous.

I was sweating and shaky but slowly I walked into the house. It was so dark inside I didn’t see Stephan anywhere around. I was touching the walls and was walking forward. At one point I felt like stepping on chunky shards of sharp bits and pieces. Then only I realized they were broken glasses. It was all over the floor but I didn’t see anything… I kept moving forward even more scared. Stephan should be around here somewhere.
