Anna
I hate morning sickness. This is the worst thing about pregnancy. It’s killing me.
“Anna?” I heard my Mom.
“In here, Mom,” I called from the bathroom.
“Honey, are you alright?” My mom said when she found me in the bathroom.
“I’m fine now, Mom. Morning sickness again.” I said.
My Mom went beside me and helped me up. She’s in her scrub suit, looks like she going to receive a baby today.
“Do you have something to do Mom? I’m fine, you can go.” I told her as I tuck my hair behind my ear.
“I’m receiving Mrs. Yu’s baby. Will you be fine, hon? Your daddy has a hearing and Toni’s in school. I can stay.” She said as she helps me with my hair.
“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me. I’ll call if I need something,” I told her.
“Are sure?” She asked again.
“Yes Mom. I’ll be fine,” I assured her.
She helped me back to my bed and tuck me in.
“Call me whenever you need something,” She said once more.
“Mom I’m pregnant, not an invalid. I’ll be fine. Now go, that baby needs you,” I told her. She smiled at me and kissed me in the forehead.
I was left at home with only the helpers who barely talk to me. I don’t have class today so I decided to stay lazy and watch a movie.
I’m enjoying myself with a mango ice cream on my lap while watching a movie when I heard a knock.
“Ate Anna, may bisita po kayo,” one of our helpers said behind my door.
“Coming,” I lazily stood up and checked my face in the mirror. I straightened my hair and went down.
There was a man sitting at our sofa when I reached the living room. I moved closer to take a glimpse of the man.
“Hello,” I said. The man’s head turned and I saw a familiar face.
“PJ!” I called and walked to where he is.
“AC” I heard him call me his old nickname for me.
He gave me a quick but warm hug. “What’s up?” I asked.
“Wala. I just want to see you. I haven’t seen that pretty face for quite a while now,” He said ans smiled. He still has that cute smile.
“Haha! I haven’t seen that pretty smile for quite a while as well.” I said and smiled at him.
“Oh, for you,” he handed me a bouquet of roses and a box.
“That’s Mango cheesecake. I heard from Mom that you like to eat mangos and stuffs with mango,” he said when he noticed that I took a longer look on the box.
I accepted the gifts. “Thanks, you didn’t have to,” I told him.
“Of course I have to. I haven’t seen you for a long while. It’s the least I can do,” He said.
“Ano ka ba? Ok lang yun. I understand naman. Have a sit,” I offered.
He took a sit on the couch as I handed the flowers to the helper to be transferred on a nice vase.
“So, how are you?” I asked when I joined him.
“I’m good. Nothing special with my life now,” he said while smiling.
