POV- Cora
I wake up at 6:00 am to the sound of my alarm blaring, telling me that it's the first day of my Sophomore year. Despite what I think normally, I like the first day, even the first week, of school. I only like it because I get to see who is in my classes, which I am going to die in, since I basically chose to take all advanced classes. I leave the comfort of my bed to go make some breakfast; I chose to make some toast with butter. While eating, I scroll through my social media, and take a snapchat of whatever to sustain my two streaks with my friends, Katherine and Ariel. They are both on the cheer team with me, along with my other two friends, Loren and Millie. My group is pretty small, and as much as I would like to make new friends, I can't. One reason being that I am pretty shy and the other being that I am a bit antisocial and can't be bothered having to spend more time getting to know someone.
I brush my teeth, then walk back into my bedroom to get changed into the outfit that I may or may not have had planned for a week. I don't really go all out for the first day, so I have chosen a pair of ripped, skinny jeans and a t-shirt with palm trees all over it. I then head back to my bathroom to do my hair and makeup. All I do with my hair is straighten it, and for my makeup I just put on a coat of waterproof mascara, I laugh at school to much to wear regular mascara, and fix my eyebrows with some clear mascara. By the time I'm finished getting ready, it's time for me to get on the bus. The bus arrives at 7:30 am sharp and then I'm off to school.
When I arrive at school, I immediately start walking to the front of the school, where I usually meet my friends. To get there I have to walk past every freaking guy in my grade, so I usually just stare at my phone, and pretend that I'm busy. Since I was looking down though, I didn't even see Parker, which then caused me to run into him. "Sorry," I say, but because I'm shy, it came out really quiet. While bumping into him, he dropped his binder, so I helped him pick it up.
"It's fine," Parker said will grinning," I wasn't really looking either. Thanks for, you know helping pick up my binder. I'll see you around." Once he left, I continued my journey to meet my friends. I decided not to tell them about the incident. They all knew I liked Parker, but I don't want them to make a big deal out of it.
"Took you long enough," Ariel said. I was always jealous of her name, I mean she gets to share a name with The Little Mermaid, my favorite princess.
"Sorry. I went to bathroom." I decided that would be a better explanation than explaining my encounter with Parker. They let it slide after that and proceeded to talk about whatever. I was kinda zoning out, just thinking about stuff. The bell woke me from my thoughts. I told my friends bye and I walked to Chemistry. None of my friends are in this class, so that's just great. This class also has more juniors that sophomores, which is even better. I was basically the last person to class, and there was only two seats open. One next to the most annoying girl ever, and the other being next to none other than Parker. I think for a second while deciding whether to sit next to my crush or sit next to the worst person possible, and the choice is pretty obvious. Why would I pass up sitting next to Parker, who also is really smart, so I head over in that direction.
