POV- Cora
I went on the school day happier than usual, and then headed to cheer practice. I didn't have my friends in any other classes, so I decide that I'll tell them about Parker at practice. I get there right on time so we have to to stretches and warm ups. During our stretches I decide to discreetly tell them the story. "Okay so today Parker talked to me and we have the same favorite movie. I even gave him a nickname," I tell them.
"Seriously? How'd you talk to him without, you know, freaking out. I mean you hardly talk to anyone," Katherine explains. Shes got a good point.
"I don't know. I guess my shyness is slowly, but surely, disappearing." I don't tell any of them about the run ins; I want to keep those secret. They don't really seem to believe my excuse, so they nag on throughout practice.
After stretches, we stunt. I'm short, 5'1, so I'm a flyer( the one who gets put up in the air) Katherine and I are flyers, Ariel, Loren, and Millie are bases, so she and I take turns switching in and out of the flying position. Our coach is teaching us basket tosses, so Katherine and I stand to the side, and practice, but she uses this time to proceed to ask questions about the whole Parker thing. "But what did you say though?"
"I just asked if I could call him Parker Peter, seeing as his favorite movie and mine is Spiderman- Homecoming."
"That's adorable!" she continues, and laughs.
" Yeah and then he said that I could call him that if he could call me a nickname, but he couldn't think of one," I tell her. She finally drops the subject and we go on practice as usual.
POV- Parker
Usually I stay after school for studying, and since I took honors classes, I already have to study. I decide to take a break and go get a drink of water. I know that Cora is on the cheer team and practices after school, which is kinda stalkerish, but Jake is the one who told me. So I then proceed to go to the drinking fountain in the gym verses the one right next to the library. I open the gym doors and see Cora's ash blonde hair across the gym. I stare for a second longer before going to get a drink. I drink for about a minute, and don't even notice someone standing behind me.
"Parker?" she asks me and I nod. "I'm Katherine, Cora's friend. She kinda told me about the nickname thing, and I've come up with one for you."
I look at her questionably, but I don't say anything.
"Coral. She loves the beach and the ocean, and so I think that it would suit her."
"Thanks.. Katherine. She talked about me?" I ask her. I already know she talked to someone, but Katherine's voice doesn't match the one I heard in the hallway. She looked at me kind of guilty, like she wasn't supposed to say anything.
"Yeah, but don't tell her I told you," she exclaims and then she walked away.
