The Face Behind The Mask ~3

Football practice then ended, so I guess Tiffany attempted her plan to ruin me/get a date with her lovely Brian. Like he was going to fall for her though. Boys were boys, but at least some have more common sense than others. Hopefully, the one with more sense was Brian.

"Adeline!" he called out to me, ignoring the begging Tiffany was giving him.

"You okay?" he asked me looking sympathetic, "sorry about that."

"Ehh," I shrugged, "it's okay. I needed to start practicing my football skills anyways."

That wasn't actually a total lie. I really did need to, not like I would've though. Pretty girls are only supposed to be pretty faces as far as I can see. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Yea..." Brian said, still turning red,"you wanna come with the team to that pizza place near Walmart? Kind of like an apology thing."

"Haha, like I said, it's okay," I smiled warmly, "and sure, if I'm not intruding or anything. Can my friend join me? She's my ride home."

"It's cool, and yea, she can come, as long as she isn't Tiffany," he shuddered.

I laughed kindly and told him I'd catch up. He was pretty sweet, better than a lot of stuck up guys who think about themselves. I never really understood the fashion of having a guy who treated you like dirt, don't you want to feel special sometimes? It's not worth it, to get a guy that's major popular but treats you like a trophy wife.

"Hey, Krissy!" I called out across the field, "you wanna come with me and the team to that pizza place?"

Without even needing to answer, Krissy stood by my side as we went towards the parking lot.

                                                              ~~~***~~~
 Honestly, I've never been to the pizza place before. It was where most of the cute popular guys hung out, therefore it was pretty much illegal for me to enter. Now, I guess it was a different story.
The place had the aroma of Italy, where I'd been three years ago with Genevieve and Tiffany. Those were good times, where nothing mattered about how different we were. The place was full of people, mainly the ones from our school. I saw most of the football team already with a table, Brian motioned me to sit next to him. I plopped down my expensive purse in the process.
"Hey," I greeted.
"Hi," he replied back, "you know, I'm really..."
"Yea, yea. I heard, you don't have to repeat it about a million times," I stuck my tongue out at him.
He laughed kindly, "so, anything specific you want here? I could order you a salad.."
"A salad?" I scoffed, "you're kidding me. Anorexic is so not cool anymore. You know, fat might be the new thing."
"I see...you aren't like most of them, are you?" he laughed.
I jokingly gasped, putting one of my hands to my chest, "How could you? After all we've been through? You'd think I'm one of them?"
He playfully stuck his tongue out at me and ordered me some random pizza. It tasted good, I guess, so I didn't really mind. Our conversation was civilized, and he was pretty cool, for a popular. His favorite music was dubstep and he enjoyed everyone but Tiffany's company. I think that's why I liked him best.
Krissy was completely content at the time talking to Mark, the co-captain of the football team. She was drooling over him like a lovesick puppy, and he obviously didn't mind the attention. Though, I found it a bit strange how he was a foot taller than her. Love works in many ways, I guess.
It was growing darker and some of the guys were starting to leave. I recognized a few of them like Dean, Terrance, Marshall, and Cole. Krissy was still lovestruck, so I decided to leave her be.
"Ahh," I sighed, "it's getting late, I gotta get back soon."
Brian nodded his head towards Krissy and Mark, "your ride's busy?"
"Haha yea," I replied," and my parents are gonna kill me soon."
Actually, that wasn't true. My parents couldn't care less, as long as I wasn't dead or anything.
"Want a ride? I'm about to go anyways," he asked me.
I nodded and we head out the door. He was a really sweet guy, and cute too, I guess. I smiled at the thought of bugging Tiffany with it, that'd be nice. Though, I can't say I liked him. It's just sick to play with someone's heart just to get revenge on someone else.
Soon, we reached my house.
"Haha, thanks for inviting me," I smiled at him.
"No problem, talk another time?" He replied.
I nodded and waved at him as he slowly drove away.  If only he was there to see me when I fell last year.
