"Again!" Lovi yelled.
"I can't!" Arthur yelled back, voice strained. He was down on his knees, his hands pulled at the grass below him. Tears strained his eyes, the sun not helping one bit. He shook with pain, his arms and legs threatening to give out.
"Yes, you can! Now get up!"
"This is barbaric!"
"Yeah right!" Lovi shot down to the ground in front of Arthur. He picked him up by the collar of his tattered and dirtied shirt. A scowl on his face seeing the pulp that the man's face had been beaten into. "Maybe you're just too weak! There's something holding you back. What is it?" Arthur's eyes casted down to the ground below them. He stayed silent. Then he shook hard as he grabbed at the hands holding him up.
He sobbed. Trying and trying to speak but it only came out a stuttering mess of sounds. He breathed in hard.
"I c-c-an't..." He breathed in again, look up to Lovi showing off his tear-stained face in the sunlight. "I'll let everyone down again, I know it!"
"Don't say that!" Lovi threw him down to the ground. Arthur grunted at the pain that surged with the impact. "We're better this time, we're prepared!"
"No we're not." Arthur shook his head, staring up at the setting sky. "That monster was one of us, Lovino."
"What?" Lovino furrowed his brows, clenching his fists hard.
"It was me, I know it was."
"How do you know it wasn't because the demon possessed you?"
"Because that place unlocked that one part of me." Arthur shakily stood up, almost tipping over in the process. He looked at Lovi in the eye with only one of his. Lovi's own ones went wide. "And you brought it back."
The ground shook beneath them. Black winds began to surround Arthur. The trees swayed violently at the speed of the winds. Dirt went flying causing Lovi to cover his face with this arms. He made sure to keep his wings tight against himself. Though his feet were a weak spot as he began to slide back.
Suddenly, the winds stopped. Lovi's eyes went wide once again and he stood straight at the sight.
"I'm no angel." Arthur said, a tired look replaced the sadness that he wore just seconds ago. He was slumped over slightly. "Nor a demon." A bat-like black wing stretch on his left side, while a white feathered one stretched on his right side. "I'm the one thing we all want to kill most. I'll kill you this time I know it."

"Your foot's off idiot!" Gil yelled as he whacked Al with a stick.
"Goddamnit!" Al hissed. "Hit me harder why don't you?"
"If I did you'd end up right where Lovino and Arthur are training and that's about 6 miles away." Gil giggled.
"He's absolutely insane."
"He's not insane." Toni interrupted grabbing Al's attention. "He's just passionate, I mean, why else would have been such a strong empire for so long?"
"Tell me, Toni." Al eyed Gilbert as the man ran to the others in the group. "Who's the strongest person here?"
"Gil, of course." Toni frowned. "Which is sad, really. He kept watching Gil's movements as the man trained with the others. "He's basically a dead man walking."
"You think that's why he's so motivated to do this?"
"Yes."
"You know," Al let himself fall to the ground to sit. "I don't get any of this. I know that there's a great big monster out to get us or whatever but I don't see how matters if it's just sitting in a cave."
"That monster is why we had the need to hide our wings. It's a cookie-cutter story of good and evil." Toni sat down next to Al. "Of course you wouldn't know it...I keep forgetting how young you still are."
"Well, what's the story?"
"The story," Kiki interrupted from behind. The two swing their heads in surprise. "Goes that a demon and angel fell in love and they had three children. One an angel, another a demon, and the last a hybrid." The wind blew gently passed them. "The angel and the demon went to war. While the hybrid went into hiding. We are all the result of the war just as that demon is. It's out duty to protect this Earth." Kiki looked up, his eyes scanning the forest calmly. "If we didn't, we wouldn't be thriving as we are now."
"Makes sense."
"There's a catch." Toni said.
"What's the catch?" Al asked.
"It's the hybrid who decides the fate of the earth once we defeat this last demon." Gil said as he walked up to the small group.
"Oh, shit."
