Veronica stepped into the diner. It was small, and old fashioned, and it had a musty feeling about it. A different atmosphere then what she had encountered in New York. The first thing she noticed was the red everywhere. There was a real red theme going on. The second thing she noticed was a man behind the counter who she could only guess was Pop himself (hence the name Pop's Chocklit Shop).
The third thing she noticed was a red headed boy, looking at her from a booth not too far away. She also saw the back of a girl's head, blonde hair stuck up in a tight and almost painful looking ponytail. The blonde girl, noticing her friend's interest, peeked around to catch a glimpse at Veronica, and this led to Veronica catching a glimpse of the girl as well.

She was well groomed, beautiful in fact. Veronica was surprised at how pissed off she looked. The boy was still staring like an idiot. Veronica felt an urge to talk to the girl, so she slowly approached them, knowing she looked intimidating.

"Hi!" She said, maybe a bit too enthusiastic. The red headed boy answered immediately. "Hey!" Veronica glanced at the girl, who was staring at the tabletop. "Um, I'm Veronica! I just moved here." The boy raised his eyebrows and looked her up and down. "Uhhh um, oh! I'm Archie! Archie Andrews!" The boy said, snapping out of his daydream. "And this is Betty Cooper!" The girl looked up at Veronica, a flash of resentment echoed through her eyes. Veronica wondered what she'd done to make Betty feel that way. Maybe she'd interrupted a date? Betty quickly stuck a smile on her face and said a shy "hi!" Veronica suddenly recognized the name. "Betty Cooper? Aren't you giving me my tour tomorrow?" Betty smiled wider, "You're Veronica Lodge? Well then yes I'm your guide!" Veronica suddenly became excited for tomorrow, she wanted to know ALL about this blonde haired mystery. Archie cut in, wanting Veronica's attention for himself. "So wanna join us? Maybe we can help you settle in!" Veronica looked at Betty, who was once again staring at the tabletop. This time though, she looked hurt. Veronica knew by now that she'd interrupted something serious. "Oh um no my mom's waiting for me!" Archie nodded, disappointed, and Betty smiled at the floor. Veronica backed up, and took one more look at gorgeous Betty. Betty looked back and their eyes met, if only for a split second. Veronica felt the electricity between them, and was overcome by feelings she'd never felt before. She shook her head softly and grabbed her takeout bag. Hurrying back into the night.
