New Friends?

The next day, Veronica waltzed into school. She hoped her confident and intimidating strut would help her feel more powerful, but right now all she could feel was anxious.

She entered the school office and caught the eye of a secretary. "Hi! I'm Veronica Lodge. I'm new here?" The secretary nodded and replied in a bored tone, "Veronica Lodge? You're with Betty Cooper." The secretary pointed at the door, and there was Betty.

Veronica felt nervous and excited and something else she couldn't pinpoint when she saw Betty. Betty just smiled and said "Hi Veronica! I'll be showing you around!" They began to walk the halls and Betty gave a little history lesson on the school. Veronica didn't listen, as much as she was entranced by Betty's voice. No, she was looking around. Looking for something interesting to talk to Betty about. She was about to speak when a boy with brown hair rushed up to Betty. "BETTY OH MY GOD DID YOU HEAR WHO'S COMING TO SCHOOL?? HINT: HER DAD IS IN JAIL! YEAH.... VERONICA LODGE!" Veronica looked at the floor and blew air out of her mouth awkwardly. Betty looked at Veronica sympathetically and shot a look at the boy. "Um Veronica this is Kevin. Kevin Keller." Kevin, just realizing that the girl he was screaming about rudely was right there, quickly apologized. "Oh no it's... it's fine." Veronica answered. She was still hurt but she didn't want to lose a possible friend in this new school. Kevin smiled and said, "Well you seem like a great person!" Veronica thanked him and he ran off to class.

Betty and Veronica continued on their way, Veronica occasionally sneaking peeks at Betty. Man she's beautiful, I wonder if she thinks about me like this. Wait what am I doing?? I'm not....gay am I? No no... I can't be.

Betty caught Veronica staring and giggled. "What are you looking at?"

She's adorable when she laughs. Who am I kidding? She's ALWAYS adorable!

"Oh! Well... has anyone ever told you that you are really pretty? Like seriously!" Betty giggled again and a faint blush appeared on her face. "Well thanks Veronica! And...you're really pretty too!" Veronica smiled and thanked Betty. If only you knew how I feel about you. She thought, smiling at the floor.

While they were exploring the halls, Veronica spotted Archie at his locker. Veronica, wanting to know if this was Betty's boyfriend or not, pulled Betty aside and smirked. "Hey! It's that boy from the diner! He's super hot. So listen, is he your boyfriend?" Betty blushed a little harder and answered. "No no he's not my... boyfriend but... I do like him. A lot." Veronica's heart sunk a bit but she decided to support Betty. "Well, I hope you guys get together!" Veronica hated saying that sentence. Every part of it. But she really liked Betty and she wanted to help her no matter what. So she stuck through it. Betty's worth it.
