We talked the rest of Mrs. Rossers English class and only stopped once we were in science since Mr. Wern is too strict. After that we had to split ways but not until after Finn agreed to sit with me and my friends at lunch.

"So you and the new dude are already close?" Bobby asks as we go through the lunch line.

"Yeah he's going to eat lunch with us" I tell them and Sage lights up.

"He's sitting with us?" She repeats turning to Bobby. "I look okay right?" Bobby gives her an annoyed look crossing his arms. "I'm kidding!" She wraps her arms around him reassuring him that she won't actually go after Finn.

"He's cool right?" Haley our final member of our group asks. "because I don't want to deal with a snob"

"Of course he's cool!" I tell her as I pay for my food.

We walk over to a table and sit down. "Hey Valerie" Maylea comes over instead of Finn like I had thought. "Can you give me some money I'm going with some friends off grounds for lunch" she begs sitting next to me giving me puppy dog eyes.

"Fine" I huff pulling out some cash from my pocket I give her fifteen dollars. "You have to pay me back"

"Deal thanks Val" She gives me a quick one armed hug and disappears back into the lunch crowd.

"Does she even actually pay you back?" Charlie asks. "She borrows money like every day"

Well she does pay me back usually or at least does my share of hunting when I don't feel like it so she has to stay out late. "Yeah of course" I tell them shrugging it off.

I catch Bobby and Sage who are sitting across from me flick their eyes above my head and linger for a second too long. I start to turn to see what their looking at but get stopped by a freezing cold touch on my neck. I suck in a breath flinching away from the touch.

"Hey Valerie" Finn laughs holding up a water bottle fresh out of the ice bin and dripping wet.

"Don't do that!" I swat at him making him jump out of my reach laughing I rub my offended neck.

"Sorry" he holds back his laughter sitting down next to me.

"So your the new kid everyone's talking about" Bobby asks even though he knows the answer.

"Yup unless there's another new person at this school I don't know about" Finn says finishing his laughing spiel sobering up.

"I see" Bobby eyes him up being territorial of Sage.

Finn glances at me clearly not knowing what to do about Bobby. "Anyway!" I clap my hands drawing their attention to me. "This is Finnian" I hold up my hands presenting Finn to the gang. "And that is Bobby, Sage bobbys girl friend Sage" I point at them and add the girlfriend part for bobbys benefit. "Charlie, and Haley" I finish.

"Nice to meet you" Finn gives a little wave and everyone else gives their own hellos.

We finish lunch with only a few notable things happening like Charlie making Bobby laugh so hard he chokes on a chicken nugget or Finn just passing out suddenly on the bench for the rest of lunch so I have to wake him up. We part ways again after lunch for our classes.

When ninth hour rolls around I'm ready to see Finn again for social studies and hope he gets here on time unlike our first class together. I take my seat in the desk I've been a signed to sit in by the teacher. Right before the bell rings in comes Finn. I watch as he talks to the teacher for a moment before he looks around the room spotting me. He comes over and takes the desk behind me.

"What up warrior girl?" He asks as he sits down and I turn to face him.

"Nothing much warrior boy" I match his smirk before turning around to actually pay attention in class since my grade is slipping.

"What we don't get to talk?" He pokes my back with what feels like a pencil.

I turn to give him what I thought was an apologetic look but he returns it with a frown. I fidget with the end of the day coming close but keep my eyes on the front. I shoot a look back at Finn a few times even though I'm trying to concentrate and find that he's asleep laying his head on his desk. How could he be so tired?

Class ends and last period starts and finishes quickly making me free at last. Well not really since I have track practice but I like that since I get to run as much and as fast as I want. I go to the locker rooms after grabbing my bag from my locker and change into my uniform. I go with the flow of girls merging with boys out to the field that the track circles. We all meet up at the center to start stretches and talk before coach shows up and starts making us do laps. I sit down and start stretching while I wait for my friends who also share my love of the sport to show up.

"Look who we found" Sage grins walking over with Bobby in tow. Finn is close behind them which surprises me.

"Yeah I talked to the coach and he said I could still join even though I just moved here" Finn explains him being here and also in athletic wear.

"Oh were you in track at your old school?" I ask as they sit down to start stretches also.

"Track and field" he corrects me so I immediately know he must do a field event. "But yeah I do long distance and pole vault"

"Really cool I've always wanted to try pole vault but I'm too scared of heights for it" I tell him.

"Do you do long distance?" he asks me probably wondering if we'll be training together at all.

"Yeah I mostly do sprints but I'll do long distance whenever we need more runners which is pretty often"

"Well I only do sprints so I won't be around much during practice" Sage says.

"I do long distance too but I need to work on my long jump" Bobby adds too.

"I'll show you the ropes then" I grin.
