The Baker ~Shikamaru~

"Rei!"

"Yes mom?"

"We have a new customer. Would you go greet him and take his order?"

"Sure thing."

Shikamaru sighed. 'This is such a drag. I just want to get this over with.'

"Hi there."

Shikamaru was snapped out of his thoughts by a soft, almost musical, voice. He was shocked. 'This is Rei? Not what I expected.'

"I'm not what you expected right?" Rei giggled, "I get that a lot."

And she did get that a lot. Nobody expected someone who looks like her to be a baker. She always found that funny. What's a baker supposed to look like anyways? With her short brown hair, glowing green eyes, petite body, and musical voice, Rei thought she looked just like a baker should. Soft and sweet, just like the food she makes.

"What can I get for you?" she said.

"Yeah...Um two loaves of sweet bread." He handed her the money.

"Is this for Old Lady Tsunade?" Rei deadpanned.

"How'd you know?" Shikamaru was shocked once again. 'Can she read my mind?'

"She sends a different ninja everytime she wants sweet bread. Tells them its a top secret mission. That old lady is just too lazy to get up herself. At least she sent a cute one this time." Rei winked.

"Uh. Um. Uh." Shikamaru blushed and scratched the back of his head.

"Oh I'm just teasing. Your not used to girls flirting with you, huh?" She smiled and handed him a bag with his order in it.

"Not really I guess." He smirked.

"Come by again soon, maybe you'll get used to it." She gave him one last dazzling smile before walking into the back kitchen.

Just as she was about to go back to her baking she realized something.

Shikamaru was on his way out of the bakery when a small hand gripped his. Its was like electricity, a static shock the second they touched.

"I never got your name." Rei said.

"Shikamaru." he replied.

"Well Shika, I'll see ya later." And she was gone.

'Rei...that girl is something else.'

"When we first met, I had no clue that you would become such a big part of my life. Maybe if I had, then I would have been more open to your shameless flirting."

Shikamaru laughed quietly, then continued.

"You never were scared to tease me..."
