Well

All was well.

For now, it has been a while since anyone has been punished. Summer came quicker than any of the boys really comprehended, so they were able to take a break from leaving the house- something they were all highly interested in. There was only one reason they didn't like being in the house. Louis thoroughly believed in a fun summer, but he did have to work just as much as he did during the school year, maybe even more. Ed also had work, and Louis didn't want the boys' brains rotting over the summer. He decided to give each boy 25 books that were appropriate for their age level that they were to read in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Liam and Niall both were fine with this, they loved reading. Liam was finally old enough to be allowed to read Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter, so a majority of his books were those, along with some more adult books, such as Moby Dick, and A Tale Of Two Cities. Niall, though only being ten, was allowed to read an adult book or two, Treasure Island and Sherlock, but mainly books like the Series Of Unfortunate events. Zayn was also to read those, and he was allowed to read lower-level as he wasn't too interested. Harry, being under ten years of age, read younger books, such as Geronimo Stilton and Magic Tree house. Harry liked to read but wasn't as avid as Liam or Niall.

Today was supposed to be a reading day. Except for the fact that neither Zayn or Harry wanted to. That would become a problem for them quickly.

Liam's POV

I set my book down, my 20 pages were almost done for today. I can probably read more, but I've been left in charge for the day. Soon enough I'll be able to work too, and I'll be able to work full time all summer as well, help financially support my family for as long as I can. I'll get to tuck some into savings, but most of it will start to go towards electricity bills, mortgage bills, and gas for the car. I know better than to punish at all, but I am allowed to administer time outs, and I am pretty smart with the whole restrictions thing.

I walked to Harry's room, and saw him seated on his bed, swinging his legs around. Not with a book. I looked at him, before picking up the one book with a bookmark in it. I handed it to him, and gave him a look. "We don't want to read." Zayn commented, sliding out from under the bed. I grabbed Zayn's book, and handed it to him too.

"I am telling you now, you both need to start reading. Dad won't be happy if he gets home and some of us haven't done our reading."

And sure enough, two hours later, dad was not very happy at all.
