I take a deep breath as I lay on the ground that's as black as the void I'm in. I stammer to my feet. I try to look around, I see a faint light far off in the distance. I hold my head.
"Where the hell am I?"
"close but not quite,"
I turn to face the raspy voice. all I see are two big red eyes staring at me. whatever it was it was taller than me. at least by 3 feet, and I'm 5'8". I try not to look scared, even though I cant even see my own nose, i stand my ground.
"your in what you mortals call purgatory"
"does that mean....."
My voice trails off as I think.
"yes and no"
I look at the eyes confused. That's when it smiles, I could tell it smiled because its tone change into something.....happy, this frighten me for two reasons, one, it can see me. and two, it sounded like it was hiding something.
"Your being rushed to the hospital as we speak."
I look more confused than before.
"then why am I here? Don't dead people only come here?"
I can now see its grin, its showing its teeth, which light up as a beacon in the darkness.
"See, you are supposed to die, but its boring in here, so I'm feeling generous, how about a little deal."
" I don't know, hell i don't even know what you are"
It lets out a inhuman chuckle. All of a sudden I see my mom and dad sitting next to a hospital bed, my bed, and jenny is crying on my chest.
"I can give you your life back, and the ones you love"
as soon as I heard that I made up my mind.
"what do I have to do?"
it chuckles a nasty laugh.
"You have to travel through the dangers of the battleground, where all the evil sinners even Satan himself doesn't want in hell, you have to collect 10 artifacts that are scattered across the land, if you retrieve all the artifacts and bring them to the area I drop you off, I will return you to your body."
it grins an evil grin.
"and if I die?"
I say without my voice shaking, even though my legs are.
"if you die, I consume your soul."
I thought it would want my soul, I hold out my hand.
"deal"
it gabs my hand, it is boney and it wraps around my hand like a rope would. it smiles and it looks me dead in the eyes
"lets be off then, and remember, in the battleground, darkness is all around"
It chuckles as I begin to lose my balance as I fall to the ground. everything fades to black.
