We've gotten a hold of a wattpad ambassador (a few actually.) and we thank them for their help and support.
CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD IS NOT NEEDED.
But yes, they are replicating our books on a different site.
Here is what my friend as explained:(this is how the Wattpad ambassador explained it to her)
"The websites that have our stories that we didn't know about are called "Mirror Websites". This means that the story is being viewed through another URL from another countries to read our stories through their sites instead of straight from Wattpad itself. Are stories are being replicated into this site."
So it is still a yes that your stories are being used and replicated on another sight without your permission, this is just more into it.
I have found out that this has happened about a year ago on Wattpad and that it was soon fixed so we are working with Wattpad to help get this fixed.
We might have found a way to get your story off the site. We aren't sure for how long or if it works yet but Mylena_Kor has just informed me that when she unpublished her book and then republished she went to check it on the website and it was gone and only an Error Message left in its place. So that may mean it's working, not for sure yet, but it's the best we've got so far while Wattpad does it's best to take down this "Mirror site"
For those of you that that think going on this website may give you a virus, I am here to tell you that that is FALSE. From what I've been told it will not give you a Virus. Because it is an actual site for people in other countries that cannot access Wattpad to read Wattpad stories through URL.
Please continue to spread the word but do not panic as nothing comes from a widespread panic. This HAS been noticed and reported to Wattpad on several accounts and several of us have gotten in context with Wattpad and talked this over. It will soon be fixed as fast as possible but tagging and word spread is still needed. Please and thank you so much!
