In a Heartbeat

Chapter 2

Jonathan's POV

It was a normal morning at first. Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm an only child. I play lots of sports such as baseball, tennis ect. Everyone says I'm popular at school but I don't think so... I don't even know why everyone likes me, they just, do! Today is my first day in 8th grade. I'm pretty nervous, I don't know if everyone will like me the same as they did last year. I hope so...I  wasn't always at this school and so 'popular'. I used to get made fun of a lot actually. I used to get bullied a lot so I never really talked to anyone. I like it a lot more here. I try to help as many people as possible that are getting bullied, I understand them.

So that morning I woke up and turned off my alarm. I went straight to my bathroom across the hall to see my hair is a wreck. "Oh no" I said worried. But then I remembered I could take a quick shower. When I got out of the shower, I smelled eggs and bacon. "Ah, yes" I said excited. Eggs are my favorite. I quickly blow dried my hair and put a bit of gel in. It doesn't take as much as you think, my hair is tamed now.

I quickly ran through the hall into the kitchen to find my mom cooking breakfast. "Hey hun. Ya hungry?" She asked cheerfully. " Starving!" I said excited. She gave me my eggs and I started eating them a little too fast. "Woah, don't eat too fast hun, your gonna choke!" I just nodded and ate slower.

When I was done I washed off my plate and sat it in the sink for me to wash later. "Hey, where's dad?" I asked. He should've been up 20 minutes ago... Then my mom froze. "Ummm, " she said and started to turn toward me. "Your dad.....went drinking last night and never came back. I have no idea where he is" she said while a tear went down her cheek. "look, mom it's ok, he'll come back. He always comes back. Always. He promised me he always would..." I said hugging her. "Ok, go get dressed. You have to leave in 20 minutes and you're still in your pajamas." she said giggling a bit. "Ok, text me at school if he comes back." She nodded and I went across the hall and into my bedroom to change.

I then changed into my navy blue shirt and grey slacks. I played candy crush on my phone for a little while and eventually it turned 7:10 A.M. and I had to leave. I kissed my mom on the cheek and walked out the door to my new bus stop.
